Lingerie fave: Panache Jasmine – Alusvaatteiden aatelia: Panache Jasmine

10 May

Hi there! I have had such a nice week and today started with Ben & Jerry’s so I can’t really complain. Btw, they have this new flavour Caramel Sutra which is absolutely amazing. I mean caramel heart with caramel and chocolate ice cream, hello?! Ate half a can already. Image

Today I’m going to review the lingerie favourite of many bloggers, Jasmine by Panache. I was so eager to try it on and as I told you before the very kind owner of Lumingerie webstore Mervi sent it to me for review purposes a couple of weeks ago. I got it in size 30FF which I found perfect for me. This does not mean that the bra would run small in cups, it’s just that my boobs have grown a bit during the last couple of months. ImageImage

Comparing to the other bra that I got from Lumingerie, Freya Deco Honey, Jasmine is definitely a bit comfortable bra when it comes to the band and the construction of the bra. I’m not particularly a member of either of the camps – padded or non-padded – but as a seamed bra Jasmine has made quite an impression on me. It gives you great lift and shape and is really versatile under even the most unforgiving clothes. My first seamed bras were mainly Curvy Kates which don’t necessarily give you the best shape under clothes so Jasmine is definitely a great rival to them with my favorite girl Marcie.

When it comes to comfort of the bra Jasmine is definitely one of my favourites to wear at home and when I want to be at ease. The fabric is very smooth but on the other hand very sturdy so it gives me great support especially on the bottom half of the cups. The construction of this bra is great since while the bottom part is very sturdy and firm, the upper part of the bra is very soft and stretchy and gives my breasts a lot of space as my breasts are quite full-on-top as well. This is why Jasmine is a great option for a lot of breast shapes. The band is very comfortable and suits my 29″ ribcage just fine. What I love about the band is that it does not stretch out too fast cause I’m always a bit hesitant on 30 bands as I fall between the sizes 28″ and 30″. If I could make one improvement on the band it would be three hook and eye closures since the bra always lasts a bit longer with more hooks and eyes.

The shape that Jasmine gives is superb as well. I absolutely love the the shape of Marcie but this bra really merges into my breast shape and makes my boobs look natural yet uplifted. Jasmine could also work for those who can’t wear Marcie that successfully and that is why everyone should give it a go.ImageImage

When it comes to the style of the bra I must say that I’m a sucker for a nice floral print whether it’s on a bra or a summer dress. The print of this particular bra is very unique, modern and water colour-y which is a great plus to me. I’m not a great fan of too girly flowers such as on Cleo Lucy but this print is definitely a bit more mature and fashion-forward. I also like the way they used the dark blue colour instead of boring black which a classic with printed bras such as this one. I think blue is also a more forgiving colour for someone with a paper white skin like mine and it suits particularly well us Finns (most of us have blue/grey eyes). Image

If I had to say one thing that bothers me a bit about this particular bra it would be the center gore that comes quite high up my torso. As a quite slim person I felt it poked a little my bony ribcage and itched my sensitive skin while bending over. However this has not bothered me after a couple of uses since the wires have become more flexible and the fabric has become softer. All in all there is not much I can complain about this bra and I would warmly recommend it to anyone who puts comfort and lift first.

In Finnish/ Suomeksi:

Moi!

Sorry, I never sent you my review… I am a bit ambivalent about Jasmine right now. I feel like other bras I have work better under clothes, but Jasmine is unrivaled on its own if I feel like lounging around in lingerie 🙂

I just feel like Jasmine gives a bit too much forward projection, which looks awesome on its own, but does not always work with the clothing I wear. It works great under more fitted and thicker fabric clothing (unless I get cold – then there is no hiding it in this bra), but I find myself reaching for other, more minimizing styles to wear with most of my clothes, which tend to be on the loose side. I agree with the comfort level of this bra – love it from the day one, never gave me any discomfort at all. I have also tried the previous bird print version and didn’t quite like it. It seems to fit the same way, but somehow manages to look worse on me. So, I have definitely opted for the floral printed one.

Also, I recommend sizing down in the band if you are in between. I used to measure 29 inches in the ribcage, so I opted for 30 band in Jasmine. I had some recent weight loss that put me into 28 inches, and Jasmine is definitely too loose – I wear it on tightest hooks to prevent riding up. Even when I measured 29 inches, I could go to the middle hooks right away, and could even use tightest hooks (with some discomfort).

All in all, a very pretty and well made bra, but for me personally, it is limited in practicality 🙂

It’s ok, Vesta, I’m so happy you sent the Lucy review for me! You’re right, the band is very soft and a bit looser than e.g. Marcie but I really like it since I have actually gained some weight 😀 I also happen to have quite wide ribs so I think the 30 band is the best option for me when it comes to Jasmine. Not even sure if they make 28s in this style?

      • Vesta May 13, 2013 at 1:47 pm #

They do have it in 28 band, I believe. But the online store I buy from goes not stock 28 band above G cup in most styles, which is very annoying, as I need a 28GG. I found an easy alteration that tightens the band, so once it stretches beyond the tightest hook set, I will probably just alter it.

      • sophie May 15, 2013 at 7:22 pm #

It’s nice that there is always an option to alter a bra if it doesn’t fit. Maybe when Jasmine comes in a new colour next season you could browse through all the other webstores as well and try to find a 28 band version of it 🙂

    Hi,

I’ve have a Jasmine, too! I love the design and the shape it gives me. However, Panache’s balconette bras are not something for me. Balconettes tend to push my ribcage between the breasts quite badly. I’ve actually bend my Jasmine’s underwires to make them further away from my ribs, but this isn’t a perfect fix either… Which is a pain as I just love the shape that Panache gives. Sizing up is not a solution, as the bras fit otherwise nicely. I think the shape of my ribcage contributes too, as it is quite sticking out in the bottom. So, still searching for my dream bras…

    • sophie May 23, 2013 at 9:50 am #

That is so true! I have wide-set boobs so they don’t poke my breast tissue but the ribcage itching and poking is just annoying. It’s not necessarily painful for me but enough not to wear the bra for long periods. Maybe someone should ask Panache to take this into account when creating balconettes in the next Curve event?

Moikka! Ihan ensiks sanottava että ihana blogi sulla! 🙂 Vähän kysyisin nyt helppiä sulta kokoon liittyen. Oon miettinyt uskaltaisko ulkomaisesta nettikaupasta ostaa tämän Jasminen.

    • sophie June 17, 2013 at 7:14 pm #

      • Maggie June 18, 2013 at 2:26 am #

      • sophie June 20, 2013 at 10:52 am #

HI! I have a question. Does the Jasmine have an extra piece of wire/boning under the arms, in the side seam? Does this make sense? I mean… like the Tango 2 does. It has wires under each breast, and also a small piece of wire in the underarm side seams. Bras like the Andorra or Saffron don’t have this. I’m interested in the Jasmine, but only if it has that second bit of wire… I really need it, or else the under-breast wires poke me SO deeply under the arms. If you could let me know, I’d REALLY appreciate it! Thanks a lot! Love your site and reviews!

    • sophie June 26, 2013 at 7:12 pm #

Hi! Sorry it took so long to reply to you but I had my Jasmine at my dad’s place and I couldn’t recall whether it had those bones. Well, I checked it and Jasmine does not have any boning/wires despite the cup wires. I know some bras have that in their side seams (many high street stores actually do that!) but Jasmine does not. Hopefully this helped you a bit 🙂
