Back to the reviews! As many of you know, I have a serious Gossard crush and as I saw their AW14 collection at Moda in February I was dying to get my hands on some of the new goodies. But what a shock, I’d have to wait for several months, wouldn’t I?! Well, Gossard has took a pretty awesome approach to releasing their collections which meant me getting my hands on the new styles already in April. They will be releasing their new AW14 styles throughout the summer and autumn which is awesome since that way there is always something new up for grabs. I was super smitten when Gossard offered to send me some of their new AW14 styles for a trial and surprise surprise, I loved them! Today I’m reviewing one of my ultimate favourite lingerie sets EVER which is called Lola.
Design: When I first saw Lola I was so eager to try it on, I just wanted shout “GIMMEGIMMEGIMME”. Yeah, that awesome it was. What is the most annoying thing about trade shows is that you don’t really get to try anything on – it’s like showing a kid some pretty irresistible candy and not let him taste it. So wrong! I was so pleased to hear that Lola would be released in April so I could indeed get my hands on it pretty early.
When the parcel arrived I couldn’t even believe how bright the colour was even though I’d seen it before – it was bright neon pink in sunlight and a bit more orange-y indoors. I have fallen completely in love with neon this spring so I was super happy to have something a bit more unique in my very rose pink and red lingerie drawer. The colour combination is also pretty unique – the neon pink/orange is combined to a pop of bright turquoise which looks fresh and girly.
The cups are made of two layers of mesh with an additional side slings to keep the breasts supported from the sides. The outer layer of mesh sports a lovely scallop detail all-over the cups which looks fresh compared to the traditional flower embroidery so many other companies love to use. The back features the classic Gossard “gate” design and the straps are fully-adjustable with golden adjusters. This bra gives me a pretty rounded shape with its three-part cup construction and has definitely replaced some of my old favourites when it comes to unpadded styles.
Fit: To my horror I thought Gossard had accidentally sent me a wrong size as I looked at the size tag. 32F! There was no way I could have fitted into it. I got back home and tried the bra on. WHAT MAGIC IS THIS? The bra fitted. I don’t know what kind of sorcery has been used to make this bra but I can state very honestly that it fit easily two cup sizes bigger than other similar styles from other brands. I am absolutely blown away. I can only guess whether it was a lucky accident or the smaller size was sent on purpose because of it’s larger fit.
The wires of the bra have a special technique used in them which allows them to encase all the breast tissue more easily. For me at least the wiring does indeed feel spot-on and I love how flexible the wires feel. I would say they are pretty narrow and low in the armpit which means they are definitely suitable for someone who needs average-to-narrow wires and is rather petite all-over. The support of the bra is also very good and the shape looks fabulous under clothing, though the embroidery shows under thinner fabrics. The band feels snug yet stretchy so I’d say it runs pretty similarly to other Gossard styles – a band size tighter than other full-bust brands.
The Comfort: Gossard, I love you for your comfort. I mean, jeez these sets always blow me away for how good they are for hanging out without the feeling of actually wearing a bra. The wires don’t poke or press my ribs painfully, the band feels stretchy enough to breath in without the band riding up and even the mesh feels pretty soft on my skin. The seaming of the cups is also pretty discreet meaning no rubbing against my sensitive skin. Love it!
Also the Lola panties are amazingly comfortable. I feel like I am now more in between sizes XS and S with Gossard but I really appreciate how comfy even a tad snug size can feel when the materials and cut are well thought-out. I would always recommend people going for their smaller size when being in between sizes since I personally feel that too large knickers are way less comfy than a little snug ones. These Lola knickers are size XS and I find them pretty true-to-size compared to other brands in which I usually wear size 8.
All in all Lola proved to be as lovely as I thought it would be and I couldn’t be more happy with it. You can get Lola from the Gossard online store at £32 for the bra and £16 for the panty. Lola comes in sizes 30D-38G but is also available for smaller sizes in a pretty plunge version! Any thoughts about the set? Let me know in the comments! xx
PS. Gossard has released their new Super Smooth wireless t-shirt bra which will be introduced on the blog later on. The bra is available for smaller busts which will get a bit more attention next month on my blog! Hope you will like the experiment 😉
Disclosure: This set was provided by Gossard for review purposes. All opinions are my own.
In blue or teal, it would look so mermaid-y!
Excellent review! gorgeous colour! I would love a neon
teal kinda colour in these as being a redhead that colour would not look good on myself lol!
How tall and wide is the gore? Thinking of ordering but I can’t take wide/tall gores.
Also, how would say this bra compares to Cleo Marcie or Lily?
The gore is quite low and I would say an average width. My boobs are average-set and have no trouble with the bra. The Lola runs a cup size bigger and half a band size smaller than Marcie.
I am thinking about buying this bra in 30D. Do you think I should buy it?
Well I love the bra so if it suits your breast shape, go ahead 😉
