Lingerie Review: Curvy Kate “Tease” Cami in 30H + GIVEAWAY

1 Jul

There are certain styles in the full-bust bra market that will always hold their place in my heart and one of them is the infamous Curvy Kate “Tease” ie the former Showgirl range style Tease Me. Tease Me in cherry/blush was my first extremely well-fitting bra and it made me feel fabulous as well – I had never felt so sexy as I felt in that set. All the ruffles and the delicious colour combo that was actually recently brought back by Curvy Kate, last season to be exact. With the Tease bra set, they also launched the Tease Cami which is lovely ruffly version of the classic romantic balconette style bra. Today I am teaming up with the folks of Curvy, an Australian D+ online retailer, who offered me to try the new Tease Cami in Berry/Black and have also promised to gift two of my lovely readers a set of their choice from the Curvy store selection. Here’s how I liked my old, renewed favourite!

DSC_0006DSC_0016Design: As always, the Tease design is absolutely beautiful and I love all the beautiful ruffles, embroidery and jewel-tone colour combos it comes in. The new cami version is cut open at the front in a way some Disney princesses have their skirts (hehe) and the edge of the hem is adorned with a flowy ruffle. I would perhaps prefer this style in a longer babydoll cut but I do like this one as well. Also the hem part could be a be a bit more voluminous to create more creases and thus be more covering. The colour combo of the new season Tease is quite dark for a summer season but it is created for “bedroom purposes”, so it fits the bill.

The style of the cups is a true padded balconette which is constructed of three pieces and two vertical seams. I have always liked this cup construction and it gives me the perfect Marie Antoinette sort of cleavage. The former Tease bras have been very open at the top making them perfect for FOT breasts but I can see a slight change in the pattern with this particular colourway – it’s a bit more closed at top, meaning it will suit more full-on-bottom shaped breasts now (with me, it seems to create a slight quadboob on my bigger breast).

DSC_0008DSC_0023Fit: I opted for size 30H with the Tease Cami as it is my regular Curvy Kate size – however, I do still have a ss14 Tease in my bradrobe which still fits me at 30GG. I have to report a few differences with these two products, so you can make the right choice with the Cami, if you are thinking of buying one! First of all, the band of the Cami is significantly smaller than the regular CK bands I have tried in the past. Even the Scantilly Peek-a-Boo which is a newer model from the CK sister range fits like all of my previous CK bras – so this is not something they have changed with all of their bras, I think it’s more of a one-off style that happens to run smaller ie more true-to-size in the band. Curvy Kate has been infamous for making quite stretchy bands so far, so all of you petite girls go and buy this beauty right now if you are a CK fan!

The cups are also quite a bit smaller than with most of my CK bras – which I own a plenty! Most of my Curvy Kate bras fit me perfectly in either 30GG or 30H, I would even go and say they are quite generous in cups these days. However, this time the cups proved to be quite small! I would even say they run a full cup size small, so definitely size up with these. If I had tried these in store, I would have loved to have tried a 30HH or a 32H, as I prefer my bands comfortable when lounging (as let’s be honest, this is not a bra for everyday wear at work). Also, as said above, the cups are quite a bit closed at top and the centre of cups is rather shallow, so people with less fullness on top and the centre might enjoy this style more than my boobs. The wires of the Tease are actually pretty decent on me and don’t reach far in my armpit like most of my non-padded CK bras.

DSC_0028DSC_0042Comfort: I believe I have said before here on 2COP that CK Tease has always been my go-to bra for comfort – its soft padding and stretchy band make it easy to wear even around house or being a bit more active than usual. As the Tease Cami provides a firmer bra band than usual, it’s not as comfortable as my Tease bra but still feels good on to wear for lounging purposes. I like this style more than the classic Ritzy babydoll as its wires sit on a better spot for me personally and thus they don’t poke me in the armpits.

What I really like about Curvy Kate is that they make their boudoir style pieces with the same comfort level as their regular everyday bras – who says you can’t be comfy when lounging around or getting frisky in the bedroom?! I refuse to compromise with my comfort level no matter the scenario, so I appreciate CK’s dedication to make all of their sets both beautiful and extremely comfortable.

If you would like to try the Curvy Kate Tease Cami (up to J-cup!) for yourself, the Curvy online store has it on sale for 72 AUD which is a great price. I also really appreciate Australian full-bust shops as they are working in an incredibly demanding field in their country – so show Curvy some love, will you! Curvy would also like to show their love to you and gift two lingerie sets for a raffle! Here comes the important rule: there is one raffle for international readers ie all of you and another for my Australian 2COP readers.

Here’s a link to the international raffle: http://www.rafflecopter.com/rafl/display/b3aac76b17/?

And here to the Australian one: http://www.rafflecopter.com/rafl/display/b3aac76b18/?

The raffle is open from now on to 15th of July 0:00 GMT and the prize is subject to availability. If you win, you can choose any two piece lingerie set you wish, excluding Primadonna and Scantilly sets. Please complete the tasks in the Rafflecopter widget to gain as many entries as you can! There will be two mandatory entries: commenting on this blog post by answering a question stated in the widget (which set would you choose from Curvy’s selection?) and also by subscribing to Two Cakes on a Plate. Other entries are optional but will increase your chance to win! The winners will be contacted by me soon after the raffle and if the winner(s) fail to reply to my email after a week’s time, another winner will be drawn. Good luck everyone – get entering 😉

The Easiest Way to Wash Your Bras – Eucalan Delicate Wash Review

7 Apr

I am super lazy. Yes, that is now out there and there’s no denying it – I literally vacuum-cleaned our flat a couple of weeks ago for the first time in over two years (I have been with Mr 2COP for 2 and half years now so you can imagine who’s been doing the cleaning so far, hehe!) and I felt like a freaking hero. I have only recently started to do more household chores and remember to mention every single chore to the Mr when I’ve done it – because it’s a miracle each and every time. So you can imagine how I feel about washing my underwear; it’s tedious and I usually have a huge pile of dirty stuff before I take on the chore. This is why I truly appreciate anything that helps me with all the washing and rinsing – enter Eucalan Delicate Wash. *These products were gifted to me by Eucalan. All opinions are my own!*

DSC_0001

I have to admit that I had tried something quite similar before being introduced to Eucalan – you may have seen a review of Soak Wash on my blog previously which is still something I use at frequently. The Soak is a “stronger” formula with the upside of getting even some stains out of clothes but to be honest, it is also not the most eco-friendly choice. With Eucalan I was instantly intrigued by its claims to be a sustainable options for those who want to wash their delicates in an eco-friendly manner. The girl needs options!

The Eucalan washing liquid works pretty much the same way as Soak – you fill a bucket or a sink with lukewarm water and add a teaspoon of Eucalan to the mix. Then you put your underpinnings into the sink and let them soak for 15 minutes. Here comes the easiness: after soaking, you can just drain the water out of the sink, squeeze the water out of the garments (gently!) and hang them to dry. How convenient is that?! I love that brands are coming out with these no-rinse formulas which makes especially women’s lives easier – it is so unfair men can only throw their undies in the machine and be fine with it! Personally, I would always recommend hand-washing or “soaking” for women’s underwear and especially bras, as it makes their life cycle a lot longer.

DSC_0005

When it comes to the ingredients of the Eucalan wash, you can find a full list of them here. A fun fact: Mr 2COP is a chemist which is why it is always helpful and interesting to ask him about the ingredients used in chemicals I use to eg wash my clothes or dye my hair with. Usually, the verdict is pretty depressing but with Eucalan, he found no harmful chemicals whatsoever. Of course, any chemical CAN cause an allergic reaction but that includes even the most “natural” ones, such as the plants that are used in the making of my hair dye. However, the Eucalan wash can be used with a clear conscience as it contains no harmful ingredients to nature nor the consumer. This is a definite upside in my book! If your skin is very sensitive though, I would advice to still rinse your garments after wash, just in case (test what works best for you and your skin!).

The Eucalan team sent me the complete collection of the five scents that belong to the Eucalan Delicate Wash family and I have tested each and every one of them. The scents are Eucalyptus, Lavender, Grapefruit, Natural and Jasmine. They are all pretty mild meaning even if you would not be the biggest fan of strong scents you could probably use these with no complaints. I personally would have enjoyed an even stronger scent, especially when it comes to my favourite scent Lavender! All of the scents are also very agreeable and I plan to use them all in the future. However, if you are allergic to even mild scents, I would suggest trying the Natural option, as it is completely scentless.

DSC_0007

When it comes to the washing abilities of the Eucalan, I would say they are pretty on par with most other washing liquids I have used in the past. It will not wash away stains or clean super dirty clothes but for rinsing the sweat and skin grease out of my underwear it is very appropriate. If your delicates have any stains on them, I would suggest cleaning those up before washing the garment with Eucalan.

The Eucalan comes in four different bottle sizes, which are the “single-use” packages, the 100 ml bottle, the 500 ml bottle and the giant 4 l bottle. As you only need a teaspoon of the liquid for one wash, you can go long with the 500 ml which costs $9 at the moment on Amazon. I think that is an amazing price for such a versatile and eco-friendly product, so I definitely encourage you to take the plunge and try it for yourself! If you would like try your luck, Eucalan is running a giveaway on their Facebook page in which you can win a travel package of their goodies! To find the giveaway, please click the link here. Good luck everyone!

2COP Is Turning 3! – Playful Promises Giveaway

14 Feb

One of my new favourite full-bust brands is Playful Promises. The brand itself is not a new gal on the block but they came out with their first up to G-cup collection just in last November. I am loving the aesthetics and as it was one of the most talked about collection launches last autumn, I thought about asking Anna if they would like to give away one their DD+ sets. And she said yes! Also, PP has now added the FF-cups to their size range, meaning the range will now run much more true-to-size – how exciting! Playful Promises is giving away one of their Cordelia sets in the beautiful Absinthe colourway.

Tutti Rouge is one of those brands that always manages to come up with the most fantastic colourways and unique prints – it’s a dream for a bubbly life-loving fuller-busted pinup like myself! I have also been very impressed with the detailing and innovation behind their designs season after season, and I am happy to announce that Tutti Rouge has agreed to gift one set of their beautiful lingerie to a lucky reader.

I am Turning 23 – Let’s Celebrate with a Giveaway!

23 Nov

Hi everyone! How are you? It’s your girl Sophie here. Or hell, what am I talking about, you know, my real name is actually Mette Sofia. I used to want to blog by a more anonymous name but I have now realised it doesn’t really matter at this point – all my friends and family know about my blog and are more or less proud of what I am doing. In Finland, however, you can get someone’s phone number and home address by looking them up by name, which is why I was never comfortable with writing with my real name to begin with.

I was born exactly 23 years ago and to say the least, it has been quite a ride. I have gained so many new friends over the past three years or so – pretty much the time I have been blogging btw – and also started new hobbies and rekindled old ones, like painting and drawing. I am a pretty arty gal and this is why my blog is also a great way for me to let out some steam and use my creativity. I am also sometimes a bit old-fashioned and cling to things that are not even that significant – like the layout of my blog. I thought about changing it but every time it makes me hesitant and almost a bit sad when thinking about changing something that big about my blog. I liked it from the first day and I still do. What do you think lovers? Should I keep it or change it? I don’t know, if you have any opinions, they are welcome (but be nice, I am a gentle fragile little thing, haha!).

To celebrate these past years and especially the three past ones I have been so happy with, I decided to put together a mini-giveaway for you, my dear readers. Every comment, every nice word and “like” make me feel better about myself – I was never a popular girl and every time someone clicks the follow button, my heart swells with pride and love. THANK YOU! Really, it feels like I have so many friends out there that are actually interested to see what I have to say and it means so much to me. I wouldn’t be this happy without you.

Today I have two of my gals with me to celebrate this day and they are My Curves and Me + Urkye. Both of these babes are there to make us full-bust ladies feel amazing and this is why I wanted to share some of their love with you as well!

URKYE

9c31b1382a1c6d3e09c545e02f914c0f
Urkye is  Polish brand that has been close to my heart since two summers ago, when I was working at the Lumingerie storage and going back and fort in a steaming hot bus to go to work. Their dresses and other clothes are especially made for big boobs and look amazing on a curvier figure! The cuts and materials are very practical and I always get so many compliments for both of my Urkye dresses, the Koperta and the Tuba.

Urkye has agreed to give away a Mala dress (pictured above) to one lucky winner with three 30% discount codes for future purchases. The sizes and colours available are featured on the Urkye e-commerce shop and the prize is subject to availability. To enter the giveaway please click the link below and follow the Rafflecopter instructions. There are two mandatory tasks this time – to subscribe to Two Cakes on a Plate (click the “Follow Me” button on the top of the side panel to do that) and leave a comment to this blog post telling me how would you style this dress if you won! The giveaway will run until 1st of December 2015, 12 am GMT.

Both giveaways are international and the winners will be contacted by email after the giveaway closes. Please check your spam folder in case you won! If my email isn’t replied after one week from contacting you, a new winner will be drawn. Good luck everyone and I hope you are having a great time getting in the Christmas mood (or whatever mood you wanna get into if you are not Christian 😉 ) xx

Nifty Little Worker in Your Bradrobe: “The Strap Saver” Review + GIVEAWAY!

31 Aug

We all know that sometimes we buy a bra that does not quite fit our body type perfectly but still, it feels impossible to part with a bra so beautiful just because it is not perfect fit- or comfort-wise. Also, sometimes you love a bra to death and it gets a bit tired – but again we face the problem whether to ditch it or try to bring it back to life. When I was contacted on the behalf of the so called “Strap Saver”, I was instantly intrigued about this nifty little helper that would make some of my favourite bras work a little better.

In a nutshell, Strap Saver is a metallic little tool to make your bra straps tighter – the product was invented for the purpose of bringing life back to worn-out straps but to me, this seemed like a perfect option to test out with some of my bras that have quite long shoulder straps and kept falling off for this very reason. I also knew this “mommy’s little helper” would be perfect for Jo as she is very petite and almost all of her bras have too long straps for her tiny figure – which is why I went all greedy and asked a pair of Strap Savers for both of us. The Strap Saver team was happy to oblige and sent us both a pair – one in the one inch width and another one in the 1/2 inch width. Here’s our review on this convenient little product!

DSC_0518 DSC_0523 DSC_0557DSC_0516
The Strap Saver package comes with a cute pink pouch for your Savers, a set of two Savers with your preferred width (you can choose from 1/4″, 1/2″, 3/4″ and 1″ – so plenty of options there!) and two small leaflets which include the instructions of how to use the product. As we both got different widths, we have tried to showcase the size of these different options in the pictures, to give you a good idea what size would be a good one for you personally.

As I am big-busted gal myself, my bra straps usually come with quite wide straps which is why chose the widest Strap Saver for myself. In the pictures below you can see the Saver attached to my Comexim “Irish Coffee” which has extremely stretchy and slippery straps – something that the strap saver will be of help with! Jo went for the 1/2″ Savers as most of her bradrobe consists of Gossard who are notorious for making narrow bra straps. Her Savers are pictured on the to-be-reviewed Gossard “Gypsy” (which will btw be introduced tomorrow!).

When we tried to Savers for the first time, it was a bit off a hassle with the instructions – keep in mind that we are not native English-speakers and sometimes require a bit clearer instructions to actually understand how something works. This is something that the Strap Saver team could perhaps take into consideration – some people might need a bit more detailed pictures to figure out how to use the product! After a little while of chewing our finger nails, Jo finally figured out how the product works and off we went with the trial-and-error. Here’s how the thing works in all its glory!

DSC_0559 DSC_0560 DSC_0562
1. Pull your bra adjuster to the point from which you want to start shortening the strap. After this, pull the loop which the adjuster creates and try to figure out an ideal length for your strap. The more you pull the loop, the shorter the straps get eventually. Then, press the loop against the top part of the strap (the part near to the bra cup edge).

DSC_0563 DSC_0564
2. Slide the Strap Saver through the loop, UNDERNEATH the strap with the bigger half of the Strap Saver grasping the strap first. The narrower half of the Saver is left underneath the strap at this point.

DSC_0565 DSC_0567 DSC_0569
3. Slide the the strap that’s coming through the bigger half of the Strap Saver through the smaller half and pull a tiny bit. And voilà – you are done! Not tricky at all in the end but feels a bit daunting at first 😉

I know some other bloggers have come up with their own instructions as well, but we really wanted to explain it in the most simple way so that all of our international ladies as well can get a proper idea. Not at all hard to do, but you may find this How-To or the video clips on the strap saver site quite useful.

While at 2COP we believe that a worn-out bra is no longer worth your unconditional love and you probably should get a new one if your straps have worn out, there are a LOT of occasions in which the Strap Saver seems like a fantastic choice. Have you ever had problems with spaghetti straps on your dresses or tank tops? Strap Saver is a great way to shorten those up too but for this purpose, you need to sets of strap savers if the item in question does not have adjusters of its own. There is a separate instruction leaflet for that as well and this way, you can use the Saver on items that were not “supposed to be” adjusted in the first place. The materials of the Strap saver are quite “rough” so not the prettiest but this probably helps the little thingys to stay in place and be actually functional. If the metal colourway is not your thing, there is also black and beige on offer. The first pair in your order costs $15 but each additional pair is only $10 extra – how cool is that!

DSC_0517 DSC_0525 DSC_0528
If there is a way to make non-slippery Strap Savers without making them look too rough (see, we don’t know cause engineering is not our thang!), we would love to see more rounded corners and prettier colours with this product – it is so extremely practical that I wouldn’t mind having it in gold or rose gold colour options as well! And indeed, when it comes to practicality, the Strap Saver is truly something every girl should own to make your bradrobe much more functional!

If you want to give the Strap Saver a proper try, you can now get it at the Strap Saver online store and the international shipping is just $2 regardless of how many Savers you decide to purchase! Standard US shipping is completely free which makes it all more accessible to domestic customers.

NOW, if you want to try your luck you can take part in the Strap Saver raffle to win a $50 VISA gift card! The raffle ends on 7th of September which gives you roughly a week to take part. It is very simple! Click the link below and follow the instructions on the Rafflecopter widget. The only compulsory task is to comment on this blog post with your worst strap malfunction story and you will gain an entry to the raffle! The other tasks are completely optional and will give you extra entries in the raffle. Good luck and do also let me know what you think of the product!
