Sleepwear Worth of Sleeping Beauty – Review of Gossard “Elegance”

8 Apr

When it comes to sleepwear, there are occasions when I see something really pretty, get my hopes up but unfortunately my boobies turn out to be a bit too big for the beauties I have laid my eyes on. This is exactly what happened with the “Elegance” sleepwear range that Gossard sent me a few weeks ago – what pretty pink shades, what a lovely rose petal print! And when the parcel arrived at my door and the skivvies were on, I huffed and puffed for a moment because the garments just didn’t fit my 30GG/H bust. What a bummer! In these occasions I usually always do the same thing – I ring my friend Jo to “help” me (aka release me from the agony of owning too small pretty things) and there again she was, turning something that didn’t work on me into pure magic. Here are a few notes and pics of the lovely Gossard “Elegance” slip, cami and the french knicker which are part of the Gossard SS15 collection.

DSC_0228 DSC_0245  DSC_0255DSC_0252
To start off we perhaps need to mention Jo’s bra size which is usually something around 28F or 30E (with the expception of Gossard bras fitting in 30DD). She is quite tiny all over and wears a UK size 8 (EU 34, US 4) with underbust measurement of roughly around 28″. The Elegance comes in UK sizing, sizes 8-16 which translates roughly to 34-42 in EU sizes (excluding France, Spain and Italy). Even though I am usually a size 10 and Jo a size 8, I did feel the Elegance sleep range does run a bit small so the 10 fitted Jo quite comfortably without much extra looseness. The fabric (which is mostly polyester and elastane) is rather stretchy so you might get away with your regular UK size but just be aware that this way it will be quite clingy!

The bust area of the Cami and the Slip feature lovely stretch lace which is very soft and forgiving for different bust sizes but with size 10, I wouldn’t recommend anyone with above 30F wearing this, unless you don’t mind a very odd shape to your bust line. Even with the stretch lace, the top part squishes a bigger bust to very sad droopy boobs and this is definitely not ideal for support nor aesthetics! This however, is not the fault of the product but something that us GG+ have to get used to now and then. Up to F though, the slip and the cami should do their job fine and the bust area certainly looks great with Jo’s 28F full-on-bottom breasts.

The colour scheme of the set is very pale but even with our Finnish practically white skin tones, it does work pretty anyways. Some people are convinced that pink and red/ginger hair don’t go well together but I disagree on that too – I think the pale pink is a marvelous companion to Jo’s light ginger bob! The print is very unique and on-trend considering that water-colour and painting-like prints have been really “in” for a couple of years or so. Nevertheless, the print is by no means restless and seems like a pretty suitable option for someone wanting either pretty bedroom or loungewear.

When it comes to practicality, the Elegance range does seem to suit boudoir or lounge purposes better than actually sleeping in. Both of us sleep pretty much butt naked or in old longjohn’s (yap, I said it) so for actually sleeping in, these wouldn’t be neither of us’ first choice. However, if you are in a mood of looking/feeling a bit prettier in the morning/evening and feel like slipping into something luxurious, Elegance is a very good quality choice for an affordable price. The slip retails for £32, the cami for £28 and the french knicker for £21. As opposed to some other high-end or even pricier high street brands, this is a fair price for something a bit more special for your loungewear. However, the range does include a lovely plunge bra up to E-cup and some skimpier bottom choices as well, so if you love the print but are not a big fan of sleep/loungewear, you can invest in something a bit more practical as well 😉

What do you think of the Elegance range? Do you wear pretty sleepwear on regular or is it just an occasion-kinda-thing? Let me know in the comments!

Canadian Goodies – Review Of Blush Lingerie “Paramour” High-Waisted Brief

14 Oct

First of all, I am hyperventilating here because I have my final job interview for being a bra fitter for a very well-known brand (and I REALLY want the job). So please excuse me if this review turns out odd, I am not myself at the moment. Okay, moving on…

A few weeks ago I saw this amazing set by Blush Lingerie and of course, got super excited and tweeted them that I would literally die if I couldn’t get my hands on it (this happens now and then). What I wasn’t expecting was that the lovely people at Blush contacted me and asked if I wanted to review the very same set called “Paramour”. Unfortunately, I do not fit into their bra size range which only goes up to DD with this particular range but I was very happy to be sent the lovely retro suspender brief in the lovely Black/Obsidian colourway. Here’s how it looks and fits…

DSC_0003 DSC_0002DSC_0006 DSC_0007
I want to say something before I tell you about the briefs. It took me a whole lot of courage to post pics of myself in my panties so I hope you are gentle on me. I have scars and wounds around my body because of my eczema and I am not perfectly slim, I know that (also, I just noticed I have super weird ribs poking out under my bra band). Why I wanted to post these pictures was because I want to show how lingerie looks on someone my size and hopefully some of you can relate to my body type. If you are about to comment on this post, which I appreciate, leave my body out of the comments unless you have something nice to say. I am very touchy about this subject because of my eating disorder problems and will ask you to respect that. #diversityinlingerie

The brief looks as stunning in nature as in the pictures though the mint-green undertone looks much more accentuated in natural light. I am so glad Blush Lingerie has decided to pair the mint shade with black as it makes the bottoms approachable to us fuller-busted ladies as well and we can match it to any basic black bra we own. The design of the panties is so adorable and sexy at the same time and I love the high rise that looks pretty good on me too, even though I don’t have the best proportions for high-waisted stuff. The brief comes up to my belly button but doesn’t cover it so I would say the panties are designed for someone with rather regular proportions and height.

DSC_0011 DSC_0016

I went for the size Small with the panties even though my waist measurement belongs to the M category. The thing is, my waist and hips don’t have a dramatic difference between them so each time I go for a certain size, I need to pick whether the panties are a bit snug on my waist or a little too loose on my butt. I usually go for the snugger waist as I do like a nipped-in look with everything high-waisted.

The quality of the panties seems great to me and the detachable suspenders are made of a lovely velvet-y material, creating a more luxe look to the style. The materials are stretchy enough to feel comfortable and the gusset feels a good width to me. Also the butt section has enough room for my booty and looks quite flattering even though I don’t have much curves on my backside. All in all, the Paramour high-waisted knickers seems like a very good quality for their 38 CAD (=27 €) price tag! Shipping to Europe can be costly but eg. to USA it’s only $5.

How do you like the panties? Do you love or hate high-waisted bottoms? Let me know in the comments! xx

Miss Geek and the wonders of Primark

11 Jan

Hya! Miss Soph has finally arrived in warm and sunny England (with occasional rain and wind) which has been quite an adventure already. However I have not come here to ramble about my trip and the enormous amount of money I’ve already spent in clothes and delicious food (FISH & CHIPS I ADORE YOU)  but about what is happening on the lingerie front up here.

First and foremost I need to make a confession: I’m turning into a geek. Not like a proper one but still, it’s a bit horrendous. I have always been like the least geeky person I know so this is not something I expected. Anyways today I hit the British supermassivecheaphellhole called Primark to buy some night- and underwear. The place is the one to get your inner child jumping and screaming so obviously I was running around like a kid, not knowing which ones to choose. In the end I opted for Monsters University pj’s and some comic book/tv-series inspired knickers.

I bought them all in size 10 which is quite small in Primark. I am a massive Disney fan so this pj is right up my street. MU was also the movie we watched with other internationals when we came to Aigburth last Tuesday so I was pretty thrilled to get my hands on something that reminded me of my first day here. (All the knickers below were arund 1,70-2,50 £ and the pj is 13 £ or so)

Have a lovely weekend and I see you tomorrow with an review of Curvy Kate “Tease Me” set in the new winter shade! 😉 Also lots of love and kisses back to Finland, I’m missing y’all! xx

What I wore for Christmas – The review of Parfait “Charlotte” in 30G

25 Dec

As many of you my readers know I have an slight obsession over everything pin-up and vintage-y – especially lingerie with a good retro vibe. Well, I was over the moon when Large Cup Lingerie offered to send me a set of lingerie for my b-day and I decided to opt for the Parfait Charlotte set I’ve been drooling over for months. I decided to go for the new Wild Pink colour since it is such a vibrant shade and very suitable for any occasion (also I gave my bf a chance to pick a favourite which I agreed on). Charlotte has already become one of my favourite sets to wear so today I’m gonna review it for you! Enjoy xx

Design: Divine! Charlotte is a padded bra with three-seam cup construction. This gives my boobs a great rounded shape which makes it an easy everyday choice to wear under clothes. Due to the padding this bra gives me a bit of oomph to my boobs and makes them seem almost a little bigger than they actually are. This feature is not something I look for in every bra I buy but it doesn’t bother me at all with this bra – quite the contrary. Also the cleavage is pretty awesome even though the style of this bra is something between balconette and plunge.

Looks-wise Charlotte is a darling indeed. It has great colour options which made me weigh in my options for quite a while. The bold black trimmings are great to give the design a little rougher edge and contrast. This set is also famous for it’s quite unique fabric choices – the set features both matte and shiny materials.

Fit: I have seen my fellow bloggers encountering some fit issues with Charlotte but to me it’s one of my best-fitting bras. The wires are quite wide but not disturbingly so and I find them almost the right length for me.

The cups of this bra run a little small I’d say. I’d say these are something between FF and G but fit me just fine. As many of you know I have slight size difference when it comes to my breasts and this is why I feel like my left breast is trying to escape the cup just a little without anycausing spillage though. I’d say my other boob would actually almost need size GG. This can be also due to cup depth; Charlotte is quite shallow when it comes to cups. The band on the other hand is very true to size and has three rows of hooks and eyes which gives me extra support for my ever-growing boobies.

The straps are the minor fault of this bra since they are too wide-set for most of the bloggers that have tried this bra. I found them quite ok but would say that a girl with narrower shoulders could have a problem with them.  Also the cup height has been a problem often reported with Charlotte (cups come too high up in the armpit) but I will discuss that in the comfort section.

Comfort: With time I have become more and more aware of how important comfort is when it comes to bras and lingerie in general. Comfort is actually one of the things that can make or break a bra and with Charlotte it really gives the lingerie set it’s best advantage. Besides great looks Charlotte is one of those sets I wear on a daily basis since it’s made of great materials and eg has less rigid wires than Parfait’s Danielle.

If I had to point out one thing that gives this set a slight minus it would be the cup height. Even though I prefer cups that come up quite high in my armpit (to cover all my breast tissue) these cups feel a little too high even for me. In some positions or as I make certain moves with my upper body the cups pinch me a little in the armpit which certainly needs to be considered as a minor flaw that Parfait could probably easily fix for next season.

Panties: This time I went for the bikini bottoms since I wanted to try if they flattered me better than those high-rise panties. I opted for a size Small which seems to run a bit large so I probably could have gone down to size XS (but there would have been a little muffin-top going on so I’m still better off with the Small). These panties are super cute and comfy and I might say very flattering on my boyish hips. I found them much more suitable for me than the high-rise knickers of Danielle.

You can find Parfait’s Charlotte on Large Cup Lingerie with an impressive size range of 28-40 E-K. If LCL doesn’t have your size in stock just contact them and I’m sure they can figure something out for you. Again, I have to mention that this online store has the most wonderful customer service and besides that they offer free international delivery.

Have you tried Parfait’s Charlotte yet? If so, did you like it and which one is your favourite colourway? Let me know in the comments! Also I’d like to wish you all a very merry Christmas, hope you have a good time! 🙂

Disclosure: This set was generously gifted to me by Large Cup Lingerie. All opinions are my own.

The Best of Esty Lingerie

19 Oct

Esty Lingerie in an online boutique specializing in hand-made luxury lingerie by independent designers all around the world. Recently I’ve been eyeing their stuff more than I should and would like to share with you what I like the most on their site.

First what caught my eye were these bra choker straps which Undercover Lingerista reviewed on her blog a while ago. The skull detail is one of favourite choker strap designs and they make me sigh out of pure desire. They also come in various colours, here presented the black and pink versions. What I especially love about the pink version is that it supports breast cancer work by donating 5 £ off the purchase to Breakthrough Breast Cancer when you buy it this October! Very tempted to snatch one up…

Bra choker straps, £11

My other favourite on the site are these simple yet extremely delicious “Mistress Collection” side-tie knickers. They come in all the colours in the world and are made of silk. I also love how these are photographed on the site, I have never been this well lured to buy a pair of panties! They cost £27,50 so not bad for a piece made of silk.

What I first saw when I got to know Esty were their beautiful eye-masks. These eye-masks are made of silk and have a VERY luxurious feel to them with all the bows and trims. I love how great a gift these make, since there is no issues with sizing! In Finland the summers are very bright during the nighttime which is why I recommend to get one if the light bothers you. So my future boyfriend, be prepared for Christmas. I want one. The one above is one of my fave colourways and costs £66.

Esty also offers a range of garters, bridal lingerie, corsets, bra sets and nightwear so be sure to check them out too! They also have a blog of their own including a post co-starring me! (Images courtesy of Esty Lingerie)

Next I will hopefully review Parfait’s Danielle for you! I’ve been having trouble with my internet so I think I need to exchange it to a faster one before I can operate. Til then, have a great weekend! As we Finns say: brains and pants on 😉

Frillies from Playful Promises

9 Aug

Hi there! Oh, where have I been all this time again? As I told you before I still had one exam to pass for this summer, Applications of Psychology. What an annoying course, but on the other hand interesting as hell. Well, I hope I passed it and I’ll be available to blogosphere for a little longer.

A couple of days ago I received my packages from Asos which included my new Playful Promises undies, a pair of tights and a high-waisted bikini Bottom from Gossard. I also recieved my super cutesy Tutti Rouge Frankie bra which will be reviewed probably tomorrow. But onto today’s topic…ImageImage

I bought my frilly kickers from Playful Promises in S which was the smallest size available at the time. I usually tend to wear size 8 or 10 so I suspected it would fit me just fine. I used to have the smallest bottom ever.. BUT then something aka gym happened. And my butt grew! I didn’t realize until my pants started to feel tight around it, and when I tried on these  lovelies it was sealed: I have muscular booty and there ain’t nothing I can do about it.

How my butt’s new shape affected my new knickers is a drastic change in their fit. These panties are designed for a VERY flat bottom which means they were extremely difficult to wear comfortably without the back part of them sliding up my butt crack (sorry for the image..). What I think should have been done with the design is to make the back part of the panty a little higher since the fabric is not the stretchiest kind. However, after getting used to the thong-feeling of the panties it didn’t bother me too much and I could wear them all day through. These little beauties are also unfortunately low on the front so I’d suggest you skip them all together if that’s an common issue for you.ImageImageWhat I did like about these knickers is their beautiful style and colour. I have never owned such a frilly and girly pair! Though these are not you everyday option and certainly not the ones to avoid VPL, I love how they lift my mood on a night out under a pretty non-clingy dress.

See ya tomorrow, now I have some Friday party planning to do! 😉

Shopping list: Lingerie, Swimwear & Hosiery

25 Jul

Hello there! It’s a payday for me so I decided to do some online shopping and placed my very first order on Asos.com. First of all the online store is HUGE and it took me about an hour or two to find everything I wanted to but here we go..

1. Gossard Retro High-Waist Short, 25€Image

I’ve been considering buying either a new swimsuit or matching bottoms to my Freya Hello Sailor top. I came across this Gossard panty (size XS) which matches perfectly with its orange-y shade and retro feel. I’ve always lusted for pin-up inspired swimwear so this will probably feed my hunger for it!

2. Playful Promises frilly knickers, 13€Image

This needs no explanation, right? I mean frillies and pink! And bows! This may not be your everyday seamless panty but makes you smile when feeling down. I bought mine is size Small.

3. ASOS Bow TightsImage

I have always loved tights with back seam but this is something I would wear particularly when going out. They would definitely be a stunner with something red! As you may have noticed I’m also a lover of bows so these tights (size S) are right up my street.

Reviews will be up later when I get my hands on these! xx

The right pair of knickers

10 Apr

We lingerie bloggers rave about having the right fit and bra but we often forget the other half of the story: undies. Some think they’re completely unnecessary  as a fashion item and a whole set of lingerie is just a luxury that rarely is bought for everyday use. I personally am a big fan of a matching bra and knickers for they make a better impact as a full piece of art. Anyway, your knicker choice matters almost as much as your well-fitting bra since we should not forget that also our bottoms need a lift now and then.

Here are some choices to indulge your bootie:

1. A feel-good set/panties

I know, you’re probably full of Marcie already but isn’t that hipster just too damn cute to be hidden away? This is a set that always makes me happy even if the sky was falling down on me (which has been happening quite often lately..). You should have at least two pairs of knickers that just make you smile and for me it’s these ruffles that put a smile on my face.

2. A nude set with (preferably) seamless thongImage

Curvy Kate

It sounds plain and boring but trust me, these are the ones that save you from awkward moments in front of a public mirror. Since white is a big hit this summer (like the previous three summers..) you’ll be grateful for this set for being invisible under those white skinny jeans and a tee. A thong (or some other seamless knicker style)  is a must since VPL is not something we all wanna see.

3. Period undies

Yeah, I just used that word. But you can’t deny we need those things! For me the best period knicker is something in cotton, nothing skimpy and sexy since I’m not feeling superattractive while being a total bitch. Cause that’s what I am on my periods. Instead I want something that is cute and girly and something fun to make me forget what is actually happening in my panties. In the picture above would be my perfect period undies from Knickerocker. Which I don’t sadly have, snif.

4. High-waisted I’m-sexy-and-slim panties

I swear it’s gonna change your world! Well, at least it will rock it. I’m a sucker for high-waisted undies since it’s such a glamorous choice and it has some great qualities as well. Some of the high-waisted knickers are tummy-tucking miracles just like the Scandale design above and they look great at the same time. In Finland Scandale panties are in 30-40 € price range which is not bad at all comparing to other rivals who can go as far as over 100 € per knicker. If you want to be really cheap (as we students are..) what you can do is to go to H&M and buy a pair for insane 10 €. One other thing about this kinds of undies is that with low-cut jeans they’re a lifesaver for keeping your flesh covered while bending and leaning over.

5. Sexy-time knickers

Tallulah Love

This is where you can go wild and/or please your partner. The most important thing about these knickers is that you feel sexy but it’s always a plus if you can make someone special excited too. Personally I feel happy when I see that certain look in my boyfriend’s eyes and for me getting something he likes is not sexist and humiliating. But again, it’s up to you.

Is there something missing? What are your go-to panties on special occasions?
