Lingerie Review: Freya “Fancies” Bralette

11 Jan

How are all my lingerie enthusiasts doing? I started my new year with a mild flu and I am already dying of boredom – I want to go out and do stuff like hit the gym and go to burlesque practices! Now that I am staying inside for a while, I might just blog. I am actually quite excited for year 2018 when it comes to basically… everything! That means blogging as well. I am just a bit afraid that people are not interested in my blog anymore – I do hope there are some of you left there! At least most my subscribers are patiently waiting for my posts as I don’t think many have unsubscribed yet. Thank you a thousand times for that!

Today I am bringing you some new year loungewear/ bralette action. We all know the hot potato in the full-bust world has been the praised bralette trend that most of us cannot really take part in – bralettes are traditionally geared towards more small-busted people and thus the breezy light undergarments are something we don’t really have access to. However, over the past year or so a few brands have come up with bralettes that actually work for more full-busted women as well! The first bralette I got to try was the Freya “Fancies” collection bralette. Cha at Large Cup Lingerie heard about my interest to try a good full-bust bralette and offered to send me a couple to try. I was super excited and here are the results…

DSC_0125DSC_0100The Design: The Freya “Fancies” bralette comes in many different colourways, the newest one being the adorable Orchid colour which is very vibrant in flesh. I got to try the red and turquoise bralettes in sizes Small and Medium and kept the red Medium one for myself in the end. The Small turquoise bralette is with my friend Eeva and she thoroughly enjoys it as a UK size 30F/32E in regular bras. The Fancies bralette is available both in brights and in neutrals, so if you like a more toned-down shade such as black or navy, Large Cup Lingerie and Freya have you covered.

The bralette comes in regular dress sizes XS-XL and is supposed to fit a plethora of cup sizes. The bralette is a pull-over style which means it is not fastened at the back – this can be a tricky design decision for us small-band-big-cup needing women, but the materials are quite stretchy and thus the pull-over feature is not too bothersome. The bralette is made out of firm lined mesh and stretchier lace and the straps are pretty similar to a regular bra, just narrower than regular Freya bras would have in big cup sizes. The straps are fully-adjustable which means the style will suit both shorter and taller women alike.

The look of the bralette is quite simple but I like the simplicity with the fun colourways. I would love to see some prints, and different types and colours of laces though! Compared to other full-bust bralettes, I think the Fancies bralette is actually rather sexy which is always an upside for me.

DSC_0105DSC_0110
The Fit: I wear bras in a range of 30-32 GG-HH at the moment so I have a big bust and still quite a small band size. I know a friend of mine who wears 2-3 bigger cup sizes than me and she wears a Large in the bralette, so I pretty much knew the Medium would fit me. However, Cha was so kind to send me both Small and Medium so I could compare them to each other.

The size Small was pretty good in the band (not tight whatsoever) but the “cups” were at least a couple of sizes too small. I would say the size Small bralette would best fit someone with a 30-32 band and cup sizes DD-FF, maybe G. The Medium is a bit of a reach with my usually 32GG bust, so I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone with a bigger bust than mine. If I could put together size Small’s band section and size Large’s cup section, that would probably be the ideal fit for me. However, the Medium is definitely not bad and I literally wear the heck out of this thing almost everyday (I need more of these…)!

I would like to remind everyone that this is a bralette, NOT a bra that lifts and supports your throughout a long day at work. My breasts are rather self-supporting, so I don’t feel like I need more support when lounging around at home. However, if your breasts are soft and bigger than mine, I wouldn’t expect too much of this bralette – it truly is only something to keep the boob sweat at a bay and make you a bit more comfortable at home than your average bra.

DSC_0121DSC_0090
Comfort: Yes, it is the most comfortable thing I have put on my boobs in a while! Of course – it is a rather well-fitting full-bust appropriate bralette after all. The materials are fine on my skin but if I was completely honest, I would rather have a cotton lining inside the bra than the same mesh as on the outside. I think the mesh has been an aesthetic choice mostly, as it gives the bralette a more sheer sexy look to it.

The Fancies bralette is very stretchy and I like the slightly taller band that lies nicely on the ribcage rather than distributing the weight of my chest only directly under my bust. I have protruding ribcage which means my upper ribs stick out a bit more than usual, so I love the stretchy lace longline that works well with both bones sticking out and bloating that comes with the unfortunate IBS I suspect having.

All in all, I am super pleased with the Freya Fancies bralette and am planning to get a few more in the future, so this one won’t be in the wash all the time 😉 Head over to Large Cup Lingerie and check out their impressive selection of colours! The bralette costs a very affordable £20 and you can also buy a pair of matching panties from the Freya Fancies collection for the price of £14.

My Retro Closet Experience: Made-to-Order Retro Nighties

12 Apr

I rarely buy lingerie anymore (for obvious reasons, I have no more room in our two-room flat!) but when I do, it’s those pieces that I have considered long and hard. I am actually pretty considerate when it comes to buying pretties: I usually wonder and weigh on my purchases for months and really think hard if I want and need the item in question. I don’t have tons of spare coins and I like good quality clothing that is ethically made, so I save my pennies to buy something absolutely gorgeous or adorable.

So, I decided to make my first lingerie purchase in probably years and invested in a My Retro Closet “Jayne” nightie in red – I just couldn’t resist the ruffles, the adorable shoulder-ties and the way it spoke Xmas to me. Regardless of it being a Christmas season treat to myself, I decided to review it here now as I truly think this piece of heaven deserves a special mention here on my blog.

dsc_0142dsc_0150
I have admired My Retro Closet’s pieces for a while and they struck me as something we could have seen on the actresses of Mad Men or in the sleepover scene in Grease – perfect 50’s-60’s style boudoir glamour that look both effortless and sexy. I was first wary about the fit and the look this nightie would give me – I wasn’t sure if it was going to sit nicely on my larger-than-average bust and I was afraid of looking frumpy and shapeless in it. There were also not specific sizes when it came to the Jayne babydoll, which is not usually good for busty ladies like myself. However, the website said it would fit UK sizes 8-16, so I decided to give it a try.

My fears were not in the right at all, as the cut is very generous and would probably fit a plethora of body shapes and sizes. The tie-shoulders help with adjusting the neckline to a height that suits my body (and my mood!) the best. I find the shape rather flattering in its unique way – it’s rather innocent while being so flowy but also a bit naughty as it is a see-through fabric. The see-through aspect of it is not the most obvious which is something I like – I want just a hint of my skin showing through.
dsc_0155dsc_0163
My Retro Closet’s own house brand is usually made-to-order, with the exception of some special sale events when the owner (a lovely lady, if I may say so!) sews a few of the most popular styles ready-to-ship. I ordered my Jayne babydoll during a 20% flash sale but yet it was made-to-order – however, I told the owner that I needed the item by a certain date for a special occasion and she made sure to sew and ship it in time, so it arrived in Finland several days before the D-day. I was ecstatic and can only say good things about the customer service! She is also a doll on social media and always replying to her customers questions on there as well.

When the parcel arrived in just a few days after shipping, I was happy to discover a lovely neatly wrapped babydoll in it – and it was even more gorgeous than I had hoped it to be! The quality was impeccable and you could see it was made with love. Some of the best lingerie money I have seriously ever spent (and I have spent quite some…)! The colour was a perfect true red which suits perfectly Christmas, Valentine’s Day and pretty much any day you want to feel sassy and retro.
dsc_0169dsc_0176
I am very much of home-type of person – I do like my nights out and going to gym and strolling in the city centre etc, but my bed is literally the best place I know. Preferable with my loved one (don’t you think dirty there!). Even though I got the Jayne nightie for a special occasion, I do find it rather practical as well. Sure, I would never give up my Bambi onesie I got from Disneyland – after all I got proposed in it! – but I also sometimes like to feel a bit feminine without giving up my comfort either. This is where the Jayne comes in – it makes me feel so sexy yet not exposed nor uncomfortable at all.

Depending on the time you order, the made-to-order items at My Retro Closet take about 2-6 weeks to sew and ship. So if you have a day you need them on, please make sure to order in time and leave the owner a note! The Jayne range also features a bralette and panty set I very much have my eyes on – I am just hesitant to make a purchase because of my bust size. However, I have ordered some other items from them and they have always been beautiful and great quality. This store and it’s lovely owner get a huge thumbs up from me! If you are interested in your very own Jayne, it costs £75. However, they do have regular sales for a few % off if you are on a budget! And even on regular price, I can tell the products are totally worth it 😉

Lingerie Review: Sonata Rapalyte “Elektra” Bespoke Bodysuit

6 May

In addition to pretty bras and panties, I am extremely fond of all kinds of lingerie. Teddies, bodysuits, gowns (oh those Boudoir by D’Lish ones!), babydolls and slips – I will pretty much take anything if it’s my style and high-quality to satisfy the lingerie elitist in me. Unfortunately, my big bust usually means I cannot wear most of the beautiful indie/luxury designer pieces that I lust for. When Sonata Rapalyte contacted me about gifting one of their bodysuits for review purposes, I was so worried at first I could not fit into one – they all looked so small-bust friendly according to the look book pictures, so I almost gave up the whole thing. However, when the lovely team at Sonata asked if I wanted a bespoke bodysuit made according to my specific measurements, I could have not been happier! I had been lusting over their designs for so long and now my dreams were going to come true.

DSC_0009DSC_0061

The Design: I opted for the Elektra Ribbon Bodysuit as I loved the unusual colour combination of navy blue and fuchsia and thought it would suit my skin tone and eye colour the best. The bodysuit is made of extremely soft delicate lace which has a tiny bit of stretch to it. The contrasting ribbon and the satin-covered buttons are made of pure silk satin which feels luxurious to touch. Both the front and the back feature a v-shaped plunging neckline which give the bodysuit its sexy look.

The bottom is constructed in a way that suits my curvy figure the best – while looking at it laid down on the bed, you can see that there is very accentuated curve to the hip area and also some significant ruching at the back and on the bust part. The crotch part of the suit features a gusset that can be easily opened with a few poppers. This is particularly convenient when nature calls! However, it is not the easiest to close so I would recommend taking the suit off completely when you need to use the bathroom.

DSC_0030DSC_0054

The Fit: I gave my measurements to the Sonata team so they could make me a bespoke suit to my body only – there were quite a few measurements I had to take to make sure the fit would be right, but I can tell you it is totally worth it! I was quite worried at first as this was my first custom-size piece of lingerie and I just hoped I had taken all my measurements correctly. I also have a very long torso which sometimes makes things complicated with loungewear, as it recently did with the Gossard Harmony teddy.

I needn’t have worried though! The bodysuits fits me absolutely beautifully and also makes me feel beautiful. Sometimes lingerie can technically fit you but does not make you feel very confident. As an eating disorder survivor I am still at times a bit down about my body and a bit insecure – this bodysuit makes that all go away for a moment when I put it on, which is probably the biggest testimony you have ever heard from me! The bust contains my boobs well while still being quite revealing and sexy. Also my curvy butt is very happy with the suit and I don’t find the back part of the suit restricting at all. As I am more of an S-curve hourglass shape (my curves can be better seen from the side), there is a tiny bit of empty space at the curve of my back but I am not bothered by this at all. When it comes to fit the Elektra still deserves a 10/10 from me!

DSC_0014DSC_0062

Comfort: As the bodysuit is just the right length for me and can handle all my curves, there is nothing I can really complain about it. It serves me well while sitting down and walking around the house (and I actually wore it to a party as well!) so there is no way this piece should only be left for boudoir purposes only. It truly is a comfortable loungewear piece than can be worn solely to make yourself happy. The materials are dreamy and soft and feel nice on my sensitive skin.

The Sonata Rapalyte “Elektra” Ribbon Bodysuit comes in sizes XS-XL and retails for £151. If your curves require something special, I would truly recommend contacting them for a custom-size piece. The process of making a bespoke bodysuit is quite swift and the outcome so flattering and beautiful, it’s well worth the money. Perhaps try a white one for your wedding day?

Lingerie Review: Gossard Harmony in 32G + the Teddy

27 Apr

Hi everyone! Sorry about being less active this month here on the blog – I gotta confess that I haven’t been feeling my best and the job hunting + uni work has been fierce. I am kinda depressed that I still haven’t been able to find a summer job and it’s nearly May – meaning I have no idea how I’m going to pay my June’s rent. I have been in so many interviews but the problem seems to be that I am over-educated for the jobs I’m applying for, and then again, have no diploma to take on a job that would require a higher degree of education (it’s my fourth year in uni and I still have two more to go…). On the positive note, my beach vacation is drawing closer and closer which is a lovely thought in the midst of extreme anxiety.

However we are not here to talk about my anxiety today! I have a lovely new set of bra, panties and a teddy to show you from Gossard and I am guessing you can’t wait to read another review! So here we go… *This set was gifted to me by Gossard. All opinions are my own.*

DSC_0096DSC_0107
The Design: Gossard “Harmony” is one their new spring launches that oozes the fresh air of spring with a delicate almost toilé-like print. The colours are very subtle yet quite interesting – you can’t really see all the beautiful shades of grey, blue and purple from the pictures, but trust me, the colours are far more pretty in flesh! I also find the colour combo very interesting as it is not something we usually see from Gossard this time of the year. I really like the way they are mixing it up a bit and trying out some unusual lighter spring colours for this SS16 season. The styling is otherwise very simple and there is only some slight folding and stitching on the cup edges.

The shape of the Harmony plunge bra is very similar to other Gossard plunge styles this spring meaning there is quite a bit of bra to it (if you know what I mean?) and shape is quite uplifted and round, yet natural. To me, it feels again like a bit too much fabric, but what can I say, I do wear one of the largest sizes they offer. Compared to eg the Desire bra I tried a few months ago, this one feels a bit lighter though in construction can be worn without adding too much bulk under regular clothing.

DSC_0099DSC_0116
The Fit: I went with my regular Gossard size 32G and size Small bottoms and wasn’t disappointed this time either. The size is definitely right for me, but to be honest the fit of the Gossard plunges is not the best for me anymore. I am not sure if it’s my shape that has changed but I do still have some older Gossard bras in my bradrobe and they fit me quite nicely, which brings me to the conclusion that there must have been some changes to the patterns as well. I think the new patterns would perhaps be better on someone with less fullness at the centre and also at the top, as I feel like the bra is cutting a bit into my upper breast tissue even though being the right size for me. As you can see, there is also slight gaping where the strap meets the cup which indicates that the bra is just the wrong shape for my boobs. Pity, but will be a great fit for someone with perhaps more fullness towards the armpit area and the lower half of their breasts.

It’s a bit hard to see where the wire goes in the pics with the busy print and all, but I assure you that wire-wise this bra is a much better fit for me than Desire. The wires hit me at the right spot and the cups are overall quite a nice depth for my boobs. There is only tiny bit of space left on the bottom part of the left cup (note that my left boobs is fuller meaning it requires more depth) meaning it is not quite deep enough but definitely not as shallow to deem it a bad fit. The band is the right size for me though I have come to the conclusion that Gossard must me making their bands a bit bigger nowadays, meaning it does not run a full band size small anymore. I would say this one is right between 30 and 32 bands.

Comfort: Great materials, simplistic styling and fully adjustable bra straps makes this set a winner for many gals out there looking for the perfect spring-appropriate everyday set. The material choices are very sleek and soft to the skin, meaning this is a set that can be worn for several hours without any discomfort. The straps are again placed a bit too far-apart for my body and liking, but for someone with a bit broader shoulders, it wouldn’t be an issue. However, the straps are also made of simple elastics that are sturdy enough to hold well no matter what.

The bottoms that come with the set are one of the most comfy I have tried this spring and thus they are on regular use even when I’m not wearing the matching bra. I like how “basic” they are – just regular short-style bottoms that go well under almost anything. The size is perfect for me with these, so I would say they run true-to-size compared to other Gossard knickers.

DSC_0142DSC_0158
The Teddy: I received the Harmony teddy to go along with my lingerie set but unfortunately, with my curvy hourglass figure it was not the best match. I received the UK size 12 to make sure it fitted me in a relaxed way but again, my boobs, butt and long torso were a bit too much for it – it wasn’t too small but the waist hit me at an awkward spot. I would say the loungewear runs a bit smaller than eg their bottom sizes so do size up for a more comfortable fit. However, the biggest problem with me + the teddy seemed to be my super long torso, which made it too short for me to wear without the bottom part riding up my crack (hehe). With heavy heart, I gifted the teddy to my bestie Jo and she was happy to give it a test run. Turned out, it was quite lovely for her body shape regardless of the fact that she would have probably been better off with a size 10.

The thing with the teddy is that you have to loosen up the straps quite a lot to get a more comfy fit with it – at first, it was too short for Jo as well! When we noticed the straps needed to be loosened a lot, it fitted so much better and now it’s totally wearable. Take into account though that Jo’s torso is much shorter than mine and she is also a couple of cm’s shorter than me (I’m 5’6). After getting the fit right, Jo has been super happy with the teddy and has been wearing it on a regular basis as it is such a comfortable piece to lounge around in. The materials are the same as with the lingerie set; super soft satin that is light to wear even in the hot summer months.

If you are interested in getting a second opinion on the set, here’s a review of it on Comics Girls Need Bras! The set and the teddy is sold on Gossard online store for £34 for the bra (30-38 A-G), £16 for the shorts (XS-XL) and £39 for the teddy (UK 8-16). How do you like the Harmony set? Are you gravitating towards lighter colours now that it’s spring? Let me know in the comments below! xx

Luxury Loungewear Review: Introducing Andrés Intimates

8 Jun

As you my dear readers know, I am all for luxurious fabrics and girly underwear – whether it was a new lacy bra, a pair of well-crafted knickers or a piece of beautiful loungewear. This is why I was so smitten when Andrés Intimates reached out to me and asked if I would like to review some pieces from their current collection. I did some research on the brand and knew immediately this was something I was going to love; the pieces were something my grandma would have worn in the 40’s and as I am vintage-kinda girl, my answer to their request was “Hell yes!” I told the brand representative Dan what my preferences were colour- and style-wise and he was happy to send me their iconic X-back chemise and a matching circle kimono to fulfill my luxury dreams. Here’s how I liked the combo!

DSC_0360DSC_0303DSC_0292
When I first unwrapped the parcel and had my first touch with the garments I was absolutely blown-away – this was one of my first touches to genuine silk underwear and I had already started to feel there was no going back now. I knew the quality and the feel of the garments was indeed going to be premium to say the very least but as the I slipped into the chemise I let a small “Ah” out of my mouth as the materials were heavenly against my sore skin (I am having one of those worse months with my skin right now…). I had already had the chance to try some silks a couple of weeks back at my bra fitter training so I knew what the benefits of silk were to my skin – it calms it when everything else makes it feel like on fire. Trust me, I have not tried anything more practical and relieving when it comes to materials on an irritated skin!

Styling-wise, I was so happy to see Dan had picked something I really loved as his choice of colours: I asked him to surprise me and he definitely did that with this combination of radiant coral red + peachy rose pink. As I had picked out the pink circle kimono as one of my favourites, Andrés Intimates was happy to dye the tulip lace of the chemise with the same colour to offer me a matching set. How thoughtful is that! The whole set was so “me” and I cannot thank Dan and his coworkers enough for the spot-on colour choices.

DSC_0317 DSC_0308DSC_0371
What really makes Andrés stand out from other loungewear brands I have tried, is their craftsmanship and attention to details. All of their garments are created made-to-order in San Francisco which makes it a local business instead of something that is flown from China to lower the costs. The prices consist of a lot of love, attention, care and commitment put into the garments as well as the local production costs and the superb materials. These prices have no extra air in them whatsoever!

In addition to lovely soft materials and the killer colour combo, I really fell in love with how comfy the garments are on. To be honest, I was bit shocked at first to receive a size Large chemise (the circle kimono is one-size) but as I discussed the matter with Dan, turned out he had discussed my bust size with a few of their retailers and decided he wanted to put my comfort first as I am a full-busted lady. Even though I usually wear a size Small and sometimes a Medium, I do suggest that especially full-busted gals sized up with the chemise! If you prefer a snugger fit or are less-endowed in the boob area, you could get away with your regular size but I do think the sizes are still on the smaller side. However, the Large was a bit loose on me and as I gave more thought to it, it was a right decision on the behalf of Dan to send me the L as loungewear is supposed to be as comfy and care-free as possible.

DSC_0321 DSC_0338
When it comes to covering your fuller bust, Andrés does have your back (see what I did there?) with the X-back design and some adjustable straps. I found myself loving the more loose and lower fit at the front but if you feel like your bust is slipping out and it bothers you (to be honest, I don’t really care when I am at home), you can easily adjust the straps to pull the chemise up a bit at the front. In my opinion the ensemble looks the most flattering when “hanging”  a bit lower but this is always down to personal preference.

All in all I am very impressed with the Andrés Intimates and the way they have renewed their brand to provide classic lounge- and sleepwear options to the modern woman. If you would be interested to treat yourself or have someone treat you (ahem, boyfriends and girlfriends pay attention!) I would recommend Andrés as a good option for something a little more special. If interested, you can use the code 2CAKES25 to claim 25% off your first order. Their classic 32″ chemise retails for a $158 and the circle kimono for $170. Also, if you want a second opinion before your purchase, do check out Becky’s and Afilal’s reviews on Andrés Intimates!

Do you own any luxury lingerie or loungewear? Let me know in the comments! 🙂 xx PS. Huge thanks to Jo for taking the pics – they turned out really well, right?

Sleepwear Worth of Sleeping Beauty – Review of Gossard “Elegance”

8 Apr

When it comes to sleepwear, there are occasions when I see something really pretty, get my hopes up but unfortunately my boobies turn out to be a bit too big for the beauties I have laid my eyes on. This is exactly what happened with the “Elegance” sleepwear range that Gossard sent me a few weeks ago – what pretty pink shades, what a lovely rose petal print! And when the parcel arrived at my door and the skivvies were on, I huffed and puffed for a moment because the garments just didn’t fit my 30GG/H bust. What a bummer! In these occasions I usually always do the same thing – I ring my friend Jo to “help” me (aka release me from the agony of owning too small pretty things) and there again she was, turning something that didn’t work on me into pure magic. Here are a few notes and pics of the lovely Gossard “Elegance” slip, cami and the french knicker which are part of the Gossard SS15 collection.

DSC_0228 DSC_0245  DSC_0255DSC_0252
To start off we perhaps need to mention Jo’s bra size which is usually something around 28F or 30E (with the expception of Gossard bras fitting in 30DD). She is quite tiny all over and wears a UK size 8 (EU 34, US 4) with underbust measurement of roughly around 28″. The Elegance comes in UK sizing, sizes 8-16 which translates roughly to 34-42 in EU sizes (excluding France, Spain and Italy). Even though I am usually a size 10 and Jo a size 8, I did feel the Elegance sleep range does run a bit small so the 10 fitted Jo quite comfortably without much extra looseness. The fabric (which is mostly polyester and elastane) is rather stretchy so you might get away with your regular UK size but just be aware that this way it will be quite clingy!

The bust area of the Cami and the Slip feature lovely stretch lace which is very soft and forgiving for different bust sizes but with size 10, I wouldn’t recommend anyone with above 30F wearing this, unless you don’t mind a very odd shape to your bust line. Even with the stretch lace, the top part squishes a bigger bust to very sad droopy boobs and this is definitely not ideal for support nor aesthetics! This however, is not the fault of the product but something that us GG+ have to get used to now and then. Up to F though, the slip and the cami should do their job fine and the bust area certainly looks great with Jo’s 28F full-on-bottom breasts.

DSC_0302DSC_0261DSC_0266DSC_0263DSC_0275
The colour scheme of the set is very pale but even with our Finnish practically white skin tones, it does work pretty anyways. Some people are convinced that pink and red/ginger hair don’t go well together but I disagree on that too – I think the pale pink is a marvelous companion to Jo’s light ginger bob! The print is very unique and on-trend considering that water-colour and painting-like prints have been really “in” for a couple of years or so. Nevertheless, the print is by no means restless and seems like a pretty suitable option for someone wanting either pretty bedroom or loungewear.

When it comes to practicality, the Elegance range does seem to suit boudoir or lounge purposes better than actually sleeping in. Both of us sleep pretty much butt naked or in old longjohn’s (yap, I said it) so for actually sleeping in, these wouldn’t be neither of us’ first choice. However, if you are in a mood of looking/feeling a bit prettier in the morning/evening and feel like slipping into something luxurious, Elegance is a very good quality choice for an affordable price. The slip retails for £32, the cami for £28 and the french knicker for £21. As opposed to some other high-end or even pricier high street brands, this is a fair price for something a bit more special for your loungewear. However, the range does include a lovely plunge bra up to E-cup and some skimpier bottom choices as well, so if you love the print but are not a big fan of sleep/loungewear, you can invest in something a bit more practical as well 😉

What do you think of the Elegance range? Do you wear pretty sleepwear on regular or is it just an occasion-kinda-thing? Let me know in the comments!

Moda Exhibition 2015: Cyberjammies SS15 + AW15 Collections

22 Feb

A week ago I had the pleasure of going to Moda Exhibition to see all the lovely autumn/winter 2015 collections all my beloved lingerie brands had been preparing for so long. I was about to skip the Moda this time but fate intervened in my plans a bit and I was asked to take part in the Moda lingerie panel discussion – so how could I say “no”? I asked Anna from Bras and Body Image if I was welcomed to stay with her again (she lives near Birmingham) and to my great happiness, she had a spare bedroom for the very weekend. Last week I packed my bags and was ready to visit my home-away-from-home again!

This time I was lucky enough to be strolling around Moda for two whole days which lead me to meet so many new brands I had not heard of before and one of my best discoveries was definitely Cyberjammies. As I have not covered sleepwear that much apart from Gossard and Charnos, I was happy to get to know a great alternative to my boudoir and thermal wear I had been introduced to before.

DSC_0926 DSC_0927 DSC_0933 DSC_0934

It is actually a miracle on its own I had not heard of Cyberjammies before – they have a very wide footing around the globe and are also sold on several big online lingerie stores such as my fave Figleaves. Looking at their size chart, they are also actually pretty damn full-bust friendly as their size 10 woven top does not fit a standard bust measurement of 34″ but a bust of 38,5 inches. To me this is definitely a huge plus and I would love to see how this works in practice!

In addition to what seems to be a very forgiving size chart, the brand clearly takes care of the comfort and style aspects of their products. I usually just browse around Moda very hastily (I assure you one day is not enough to see it all, the Panache stand itself steals a good hour of my time!) but as I walked past the Cyberjammies stand I just had to stop and take a good look at their fabulously cute prints and vintage-inspired styling. Those roses, birdies and check prints – so very traditional yet fresh at the same time. Also the colour schemes were super refreshing compared to so many other sleepwear ranges – this brands wants to offer something on-trend in addition to your regular pastels.

Also the comfort aspect seems to be a key to Cyberjammies – of course, it’s a sleepwear line and you’d never wear something scratchy or sweaty to bed, would you! With my extensive skin problems I am always on a look out for comfy yet stylish sleepwear that would fit my curvy figure which is actually a pretty hard thing to find (best regards, “Laying in my bed, hating my bad-quality Primark tee”). As I asked about the materials, the brand rep was quick to point out that most of their jammies are not made out of pure cotton as it is not always the most soft and comfy material on its own. Most of Cyberjammies are made of different cotton blends or eg. modal to make their sleepwear extra soft against even the most sensitive skin types. This was a big relief to me, as soft breathable materials are my best friend for lounging around.

DSC_0928 DSC_0935 DSC_0942 DSC_0945

Cyberjammies are made in a few different styles to ensure that everyone gets what they look for: it might a pretty robe, classic pyjamas or perhaps a relaxed nightshirt. Surely there is plenty of room in one’s wardrobe for each though! There are also different lengths of sleeves and bottoms, which makes the brand versatile and suitable for many climates. I am cold-feet by day but nights can get literally quite steamy which is why I feel like my wardrobe is definitely in need of a couple of different styles from these bad boys!

Cyberjammies come in a great size range of UK 8-22 and the prices are bang-on as well (about £40-45 for pyjamas). Pyjamas can be bought even as a set or you can choose to mix and match the kind of tops and bottoms you feel the most comfortable in. If you would like to take a look at their current collection and maybe snatch up a beauty or two, Cyberjammies has their own online store which ships worldwide with reasonable shipping rates.

Let me know how you like Cyberjammies and if you have tried them already! I am always pleased to hear about your thoughts 😉 xx

What to Pick for a Loved-One for Valentine’s? – 2COP’s Lingerie Gift Guide

2 Feb

As Valentine’s day is two weeks away, there’s still a lot of time to pick something for either yourself (cause, duh, that is a love affair of a lifetime) but maybe something for your partner as well. Also, if you want to buy your bff something cute, why not try some comfy sleepwear? Here are my picks for bra-size free lingerie picks for this Valentine’s Day!

Gossard “Elegance” cami & french knicker set

As Gossard has been one of my go-to lingerie brands since last year, the first place I checked for proper cute sleepwear was their very own online store. Sadly Gossard does not make that many bras in my size anymore, but I do have a bit of experience with their sleepwear as well and it’s so comfy I cannot recommend it enough. The cuts are also so flattering and sexy, why not snatch up this cute Elegant set in Rose for yourself or someone you love? I promise they won’t be disappointed. Valentine’s may seem like a day to buy something extra daring for you girl, but let me assure you, better safe than sorry when it comes to undergarments, right? The set is sold separately and is moderately priced at £28 for the cami and £21 for the french knicker.

Mimi Holliday “Golden Helicon” Teddy

This teddy by the lovely Mimi Holliday is a bit on the pricier side but looks like a million bucks while actually costing £145. If you have some dough to splurge, a good-quality teddy is a lovely luxury gift for any gal out there. No matter if she sleeps butt-naked – this will get her lounging around in something pretty instead of his dad’s old t-shirts (oopsie, caught me right there!). The pale pink chiffon and golden dots make a more subtle nod to Valentine’s instead of being all goo-y and cliched.

Dottie’s Delights “Love Letters” Babydoll

If you are a vintage-loving gal as myself, you will love love love this “Love Letters” babydoll by the ever-so-lovely Dotties Delights! This gift would be perfect for anyone with a little pinup inside them so if your girl seems to be working that 50’s look, she will most likely be swooned over this piece of underwear artistry. The babydoll costs $79 so it’s maybe not for the tightest student budget but I bet still worth every penny.

Playful Promises “Penelope” Teddy from Hepburn & Leigh

If you or your girl is not all about the pink cuteness and/or you would like to buy a lovely luxury piece on budget, try Playful Promises for some affordable vintage-glam! The detailing on this chocolate shade beauty is in the colour of luxurious gold and it’s guaranteed to be a hit regardless of the modest £45 price tag. I sure would love one for those lazy Sundays!

Freya “Eden” Chemise from Bravissimo

If you are worried that your busty lady is not gonna fit into anything above, you might want to try this little sleeping beauty from Freya. Though the chemise comes in sizes Small to Large, the chemise has been designed with a well-endowed woman in mind. Th print is absolutely adorable without being tacky, so what’s not to like! This is again one of those spot-on choices for a tight student budget, with a price of just £36. Bravissimo also has excellent customer service and speedy delivery so I highly recommend checking them out whether you are looking for a lovely gift or something practical for yourself.

These were my picks for this Valentine’s, hope you like them! Also, let me know what you have planned for your Valentine’s and what are you planning to wear? I would love to know! My Valentine’s will spend in UK so unfortunately we can’t spend it together with my boyfriend but luckily, I have some great company with Anna from Bras and Body Image and we are heading out to Birmingham to see a burlesque show. Have a great week lovelies and I wish to see you entering my blogiversary giveaways as they will start rolling VERY SOON 😉

Loungewear Review – “Vintage Glamour” Slip by Gossard

26 Nov

First of all, sorry for the radio silence, I was in Berlin for a week and now I’m back on Finnish soil. I will be posting about our trip soon, some highlights and pics so you’ll get the idea what Berlin is all about. Second of all, I just passed my driving test today so hurray for me! I plan to enjoy a glass of bubbly for that tonight 🙂 Also, I just had my birthday on Sunday and I turned 22. So, all in all I’m pretty much feeling myself. Well, onto the point – another thing I have been really excited about recently is the new Gossard “Vintage Glamour” range. I received the beautiful slip which is a part of this lovely new sleepwear range and here’s how I liked it.DSC_0017
Let me tell you this first: it was quite hard to take pics in the slip without looking too revealing and raunchy. Not that there is anything wrong with that – I love sexy lingerie and sleepwear – but I didn’t want to make this post just about my boobs. The slip itself is absolutely stunning and I adore how it makes me look. The piping crossing the lace vertically and and the lace itself look so sophisticated and truly a tad vintage. However, there is a flipside to the revealing looks when you’re full-busted – it doesn’t look that “classy” on me in the pics as it would on someone with smaller breasts. Don’t get me wrong – my boobs look FANTASTIC in the slip and actually even fit into it but the truth is they look very ahem, big (well, no shit man, they ARE big, but you get the point).

The style of the Vintage Glamour slip is very flattering; it covers my butt and dips nicely on the back and front to create a very sexy look. I actually feel like I also look a lot slimmer in this slip as the vertical seaming elongates my body. I have seriously taken so many selfies of me wearing this and each time I feel fat, I just cheat myself and take look at those pics. I know, I’m weird.

What I like about this slip is that even though it’s quite simple it has those lovely little details to make it look more “vintage”. the capped sleeves look so cute and I really prefer them to regular shoulder straps as they balance out my arms that have a bit of muscle and chub to them. The front features lovely satin-coated buttons which really give the slip its finishing touch.

The sizing of this range is quite true-to-size so I would suggest to go for your regular dress size with it. I received the slip in size 10 which is my regular UK size and the slip really hugs my curves without being too-much-of-a sausage skin. It also allows a fair amount of room for my butt and boobs, which I’m really impressed of as I am currently on the edge of 30H. The upper part of the slip is designed to keep your girls in place and lightly supported: I don’t feel the need to wear a bra with this slip at all.

When it comes to comfort the Vintage Glamour slip has it’s pros and cons. First of all, the dress feels really comfy on most of the time as I know it looks good and flattering. This way I can easily lounge around in it without feeling frumpy or too naked. On the other hand, it’s also made of thin lace that is not ideal for my eczema; I have been having a little rough patch with my skin lately and can’t wear synthetic fibers too much to avoid skin irritation. However, this slip is not so much for sleeping but more of a boudoir piece and I can easily wear it for a little while now and then.

If you would fancy a piece of Vintage Glamour for yourself, you can find the slip, the french knickers and the cami here. The slip retails for £49 and comes in size 8-16. I am absolutely smitten with the looks of this range and if you want a little something to spice up you loungewear collection, I highly recommend the Vintage Glamour. This would also make a great Christmas present for your beloved one as you don’t have to know her bra size!

Tackling the Cold Nights With Charnos – The Cocoon Thermal-Wear Review

21 Oct

As I mentioned in my yesterday’s post, the weather is getting pretty damn cold where I live and to be honest, our heating system literally sucks. The heat is monitored by some random person who controls the heating of the whole building. So either we are all freezing or melting here and at the moment, it’s the first-mentioned. Luckily the lovely people at Charnos (a sister label to Lepel) offered to send me some of their awesome thermal-wear for me to test out and I have been enjoying these garments for a few weeks now! I have honestly worn them everyday when at home and slept in them every single night as the nights get really cold here. Here’s how I liked the Cocoon thermal leggings, camisole and the long-sleeved top

DSC_0038 DSC_0036DSC_0051DSC_0037
Y’all, these are bloody amazing! Cocoon range offers the ultimate comfort with a mixture of modal, silk and elastane. The range is available in three basic colours black, white and the mink. I think the set would look cute in a fashion colourway too – think pale pink or mint green. I went for the Mink as it reminds me of my mom – this is definitely a colour combo she would love for herself.

I went for a size Small as that is my usual size and I find the set to run true-to-size. They come in a size range of S, M and L but stretch a lot if needed. I think the Small would be a good choice for someone who usually wears a UK size 8-12. As I wear size 10 most of the time, I would say the set fits me spot-on!

DSC_0045  DSC_0048DSC_0043DSC_0047
I am about 5’6 meaning I am about the average height at least compared to other Finns. The leggings and the sleeved top are just the right length for me and this way look and feel fantastic on.  I also like the materials a lot – they feel super silky on and are not too warm even though are meant to be thermal-wear. During my days at home studying on my computer I usually wear the long-sleeved top as it keeps me warm in our cold flat but when I go to sleep I do fine with the cami as I can’t sleep without a thick blanket anyway. I am also pretty sure the Cocoon range would make a could underwear staple as well, if you feel like you need a good pair of longjohns or a cami under your regular clothing.

Besides being comfy and well-fitting (even on my rather curvy figure) the Cocoon set looks rather cute too. Even though the set comes in basic colours, Charnos has done well with trimming the sleeves and and necklines with lovely contrasting lace and little cute bows. The Mink colourway is matched with a pale pink lace which makes it look even more romantic and cutesy.

Even though Charnos is best known for their grown-up affordable lingerie I would highly recommend taking a look at their loungewear as well. I am truly impressed with Cocoon range and it’s actually quite affordable with the prices ranging from £25 to £35. If you want to get a set of your own or just a piece of it, I would recommend Charnos’ own online store or Figleaves which also has a US site.

Is it yet cold where you live? What kind of sleepwear do you like and wear? Let me know in the comments, love! xx
