Lingerie Review: Gossard Superboost Lace in 32G

9 Nov

Let’s face it – I am not a huge fan of t-shirt bras. They are usually too bulky for me, creating extra volume that I just don’t need. When Gossard suggested that I would give their Superboost Lace t-shirt bra a try, you can imagine I was a bit hesitant – would it be a super push-up bra that I would never use after reviewing it? I decided to give the set a go because it is such a classic in Gossard’s continuity selection and I actually really liked the new salmon red colour of the ensemble. Here’s how I liked one of my first t-shirt bras in so many months!

DSC_0228 DSC_0234
Design:
As opposed to what I thought it would be, the Superboost Lace t-shirt bra is actually made of a rather thin moulded foam and it is great for anyone who feels that eg. the Freya Deco feels a bit too thick for everyday wear (or has too much cleavage, on the other hand). My mum, for example, loves spacer foam for its breathability and seamless finish, and the material of the Superboost Lace t-shirt bra comes very close to it. It is not quite as thin as spacer foam but definitely not thick or bulky in anyway.

Otherwise the Superboost Lace is something quite pretty for an everyday bra. It has some nice lace adornments on the bra band – however, take this into consideration if your skin is very sensitive and can’t take lace. The lace on Superboost is quite soft though so I personally did not have any gripes with it. The shape of the bra is quite natural so no boobs up to your chin or anything dramatic like that. There is subtle cleavage on show (depending on your breast tissue distribution/placement of course) but nothing epic that would not be suitable for jobs that have a fairly casual dress code. The gore is quite low meaning this bra can easily be worn with low-cut tops and open necklines.

DSC_0232 DSC_0236
Fit:
I opted for my regular Gossard size of 32G and it certainly runs true to size for this particular brand – that is snug in the band and large in the cup compared to other British brands. The cups are quite a bit too wide and shallow for me, hence the empty space at the bottom of the cups. I am a bit surprised about this as usually Gossard bras fit me pretty much perfectly but apparently moulded cup bras and I are not meant to be. I know they have their place in so many peoples hearts but my boobs seem to just state “Nope. We are so not getting along with this.”

The band of the Superboost t-shirt bra is quite narrow compared to a regular Gossard 32G band, meaning it only features two hooks and eyes. I personally prefer three for extra support but some women actually like narrower bands and bra straps, even just for the looks. The bra straps are quite widely placed meaning not the best for my shoulders but they are fully-adjustable meaning it is a great bra for women with shorter torsos.

DSC_0229DSC_0076
Comfort:
This set is quite comfy when it comes to materials – they are definitely soft to touch even though I personally prefer cotton as cup lining. However, the whole set feels super soft to touch and even the lace feels silky and stretchy which makes it quite nice for even more sensitive skin types. As the straps of this bra are quite widely placed, I did have some trouble with the cup edges cutting into my armpits – luckily though the materials are smooth enough to make it up for the extra height near the armpits.

I also got to try the matching Brazilian brief in size Small and the silky soft feeling extends to the bottoms as well. To my taste, brazilian briefs are always a bit too skimpy – I prefer the good old high-waisted bottoms or hipsters as they feel more comfy under my dresses than any thong or brazilian I have ever tried. The back side of the bottoms is very stretchy though which is why it is great for those who fear the dreaded VPL.

If you would like to get the Superboost Lace t-shirt bra (£25) and brazilians (£14) as a nice everyday set, they can be purchased at the Gossard online store. The bra is available in sizes 30-38 A-G and the knickers in size XS to XL.

What is your favourite t-shirt bra? Have you tried the Superboost Lace and how do you like it? Let me know your opinion in the comments! I would be happy discover more great t-shirt options even just for my mum’s sake 😉 xx

Lingerie Review: Gossard “Watercolour Roses” in 30DD

6 Oct

I love working with Gossard as they have been so kind to 2COP from the very beginning and as Jo came along, I have loved how we could showcase the differences of Gossard’s two size ranges. Gossard also comes up with such a variety of lovely styles and prints that I can hardly keep up! This Watercolour Roses print was one of those pure diamonds Gossard came up with for the AW15 season and I was surprised to see how some other brands followed along with this pastel-y romantic autumn trend. As this particular styles goes only up to E-cup, it was Jo’s turn to take the place on the stage. *This set was kindly gifted to Jo by Gossard. All opinions are our own.*

DSC_0045 DSC_0050
Design: As I showed Jo the Gossard catalog to see what she liked, this was one of the first styles that caught her eye – “it’s so pretty!” And it truly is. The print is consists of what it’s called – watercolour roses – and its paint-like flowers are a mixture of both cool and warm tones which creates a lovely winter-garden-like impression. The printed satin is accompanied with a lovely quality embroidery which adorns the cup edges and and the bra band.

The shape of the bra is a true plunge with a three-part cup construction that gives the bust line a lot of uplift and pushes the boobs together just enough to create an alluring cleavage. The shape is rather rounded yet natural and the amount of coverage is just right for open/plunging necklines.

DSC_0048 DSC_0065
Fit: I asked for a 30DD for Jo as it is her best-fitting Gossard size so far. Even though the Gypsy bra (click for the review!) was a bit roomy on her allover, the Watercolour Roses felt like a pretty regular Gossard bra with a snug band and large-ish cups. However, it seems that Jo is a bit between with cup sizes right now as sometimes, her left boob tries to escape the cup a tiny bit and thus, we would very much like to put her in a 30DD 1/2 if we could! For the push-up effect though, this is a much better size than a 30E which would undoubtedly be left gaping.

The band is very narrow with Watercolour Roses so if you feel like one hook and eye won’t support you properly, this is probably not the bra for you. The fit is however very good on Jo, who usually wears a 28 band. However, with Gossard she seems to be between band sizes too and if we could put her in a half a size smaller band, the fit would be just a tiny bit better for her. As we know, tighter bands last for a longer period of time and will prevent you from tossing the bra too early for loss of support! The wires however are great on Jo and as with yours truly, they hit just the right spot at the root of the breast. The cup shape and depth are also perfect for Jo’s full-on-bottom boobs so I would definitely recommend this bra for you FOB ladies out there!

DSC_0049 DSC_0067
Comfort: When it comes to the materials and fit, Gossard always makes some of the most comfortable lingerie on the market. The cups are always lined with something soft and non-itchy and the wires are flexible enough to move with your body all-day-long – even after several hours, the bras are totally wearable and not pressing your ribcage like mad. What does not work with Jo’s body though, are the infamous Gossard straps – they are once again a bit too long but luckily, not as stretchy as with the Gypsy.

The bottoms Jo chose for her set were the thong as she rarely wears anything else – a complete opposite to me, that is! The fit of the XS looks prefect on her and the back part is made of stretchy mesh that makes up for the more rigid satin-y front panel. The construction of the thong is quite simple and frill-free which makes it a perfect option for everyday-wear under tighter clothes such as skinny jeans.

If you would like to get yourself a very own set of Watercolour Roses, do take a look at the Gossard online store. The plunge bra retails for a £34 and the thong for £14, so a reasonable price for such a lovely and comfy set of lingerie.

What do you think of the fall trend of pastel florals? Do you feel it’s more appropriate for spring or do you like the winter garden look? Let me know in the comments!

My First Bosom Galore Review! – “Amelia” in 30H

2 Jun

Let’s be fair – I absolutely love it when new full-bust brands burst into the scene and when I heard about Bosom Galore the first time, I was super excited to get interviewing the founder Katy about this new luxury brand designed for gals with small backs and big boobs. Also, I was intrigued to be looking at a new mid-market brand who had promised to use UK-only manufacturers and luxurious silks and laces to create a more luxurious feel to the garments. As we had seen the rise of All Undone just recently catering the same superb quality with a similar price tag, I was looking forward to see what Bosom Galore had in mind regarding their own aesthetics. Would it be something romantic or fashion-forward?

After seeing the first designs of Amelia and Classique styles and especially the first reviews from other bloggers, I was pleased to see them going for the young adult target market, meaning women in their late twenties and early thirties (or at least this is how I interpreted the brand image). However, the Bosom Galore styles are also very timeless and classic with a little bit of romantic and sultry vibes to spice them up, which I personally really like. Today, I am finally reviewing my first pieces from this lovely brand so if you are interested in the fit specifics of Amelia and Bosom Galore in general, hang in there! *Disclosure: This set was sent to me free of charge, however all opinions are my own as always!*

DSC_0196DSC_0185
Design: The Amelia was definitely the set that got me to fall in love with Bosom Galore in the first place – it was very light rose pink with some delicate white lace over it which made it appeal to my more romantic side. I have always loved the combination of very fair pink and ginger hair, so I also thought it would suit my hair and skin colour really well. Also the plunge shape intrigued me – I am always looking for a good plunge that would go under my deepest and most open necklines.

The shape of Amelia is very rounded for a plunge bra – there is no clear point on sight even though the construction is pretty much the same three-part cup construction as eg with the Bravissimo “Satine”. However, Bosom Galore has managed to create a very rounded shape, not even using a moulded cup, which is actually pretty impressive. The gore of the bra is very low as with any regular plunge bra but it is so cleverly made, even a fuller bust can sport a good wide neckline without showing the bra peeking under the neckline. So very practical!
DSC_0203DSC_0178
Fit: Well now we get to the fun part! As Bosom Galore is a very new brand with only a couple of bra styles out at the moment, it is vital for us bloggers to let you all on the other side of the screens to know, what the sizing and fit with this particular brand are like. When discussing the sizes throughout the design and manufacturing process, we came to the conclusion that a 30H would be the best size for me, as it is my regular British size at the moment, especially with plunge bras that tend to cut my upper breast tissue anyway. At first I was a bit hesitant as I had seen the reviews from other bloggers about the Classique bra which seemed to be very tight in the band and small-ish in the cups. However, Katy reassured me that the Amelia would be much truer-to-size so I took her word for it and stick with my usual 30H.

I was so glad I did as the 30H fitted me very well! As I guessed, I did need an H as opposed to GG as plunges usually fit me snugly over my upper breast tissue. This was no exception and to be honest, I would have liked to try even a cup size up to compare how it would have fitted! As my left boob is a bit bigger than the right one, I did have some spillage on the other side and needed to adjust the bra a bit now and then. This however, is more due to the cup shape than the bra being a bad fit in general. Also, I did have some empty space in the bottom of the cup which tells me the cups are still a tad shallow for me. However, I can still wear the Amelia for several hours and feel secure enough in it to wear it on a regular basis! The BG online store states that the Amelia shape is best for women with wide-set breasts and I would agree – any excess breast tissue on top and at front will have a very high risk of spilling over!

The 30 band is supposed to be a truer-to-size fit with Amelia than Classique, which is great and seems to be correct based on my experience. My underbust measurement is about 30″ right now and the 30″ fitted me comfortably – a bit snugger than Curvy Kate or Freya, so just comfy and a bit sturdy enough for me. The wires are rather regular for a British brand so I would say a bit wide for me but still not going down to my back!

DSC_0186DSC_0201DSC_0005
Comfort: Especially on the comfort front, Bosom Galore has done incredibly well in my opinion. The materials for example get full ten points! As someone suffering from a serious skin condition I could really appreciate the cotton lining inside the bra cups. To be honest, my skin has been itching like crazy recently so artificial materials are no good for me at the moment (last nigh I scratched myself so much I got bruises in addition to bleeding wounds – ouch!). Also the silk blend on top layer of the cups feels lovely to touch and the lace is one of the stretchiest and softest I have seen. So you truly get some great quality for your money! If you are worried about the wide wires, I would still like to assure you that they don’t come high up at all in the armpits – this means even if you are more on the narrow or petite side yourself, they won’t start rubbing your underarm area.

When talking about the panties I first need to mention the sizing – these suckers do run a bit small so I would advice everyone to size up with both Classique and Amelia bottoms. I am usually wearing a UK size 10 (US 6) when it comes to bottoms but with this particular brand I am wearing a size 12 briefs comfortably. To be frank, the 12 is very near to perfect and the fit is great for my muscular butt – the stretch lace accommodates even a curvier figure and leaves no lumps or bumps seen under your jeans/pencil skirts. I would actually be pretty keen on seeing a high-waisted version of these as well – it would be perfect for me under my tighter pencil dresses! The materials and the cut of the brief is very flattering and comfy so I would definitely vouch for getting the panties to match your bra – in one word, they feel amazing.

All in all I am very impressed with the fine details and the quality of my first Bosom Galore set and am looking forward to see how it translates to their other styles as well. For example, the strappy new style Louise is something I am definitely drooling over and would love assess the fit of it s it is one of the rare cage bras that come in my size!

If you are interested in getting your own Amelia set from Bosom Galore, the bra comes in sizes 26E-34H (£82) and the brief in sizes 6-16 (£38). Note the 26-bands as they are very welcomed addition to any full bust brand out there! At present, I think Bosom Galore is the only brand making them as a non-custom option so extra points for them because of that 😉 When it comes to the price, taking into account their ethical way of making the garments and the quality they are offering, Bosom Galore prices their lingerie very reasonably. The prices can be a shock to someone but if you are interested about the pricing of luxury lingerie, I would suggest you take a look at this The Lingerie Addict article – it explains why these sorts of garments cannot be priced too modestly!

What do you think of the Amelia or Bosom Galore in general? Also, would you be willing to pay more for a more local and ethical way of manufacturing lingerie plus a better quality materials? Let me know in the comments, I would love to know what my readers think of this matter! 🙂

Lingerie Review: Maison Lejaby “Féline” in 32G

13 May

You might remember me raving about Maison Lejaby a couple of months ago (click for my latest post on ML!) – when I last visited London I had the pleasure of trying on a few pieces at Mimi & You Lingerie boutique and I fell in love with their designs. During the same visit I did travel up to Birmingham where I had the chance to chat with Maison Lejaby’s UK & Ireland coordinator who introduced me even more to this lovely brand. Fast forward to today, I am now reviewing my first Maison Lejaby set here at 2COP. Maison Lejaby was so kind to send both me and Jo a set from their Elixir and Premium collections and today, I am reviewing the lovely Féline bra set from Maison Lejaby Elixir collection. Enjoy!

DSC_0159 DSC_0163
Design: To be honest, I was very nervous about Lejaby picking something for both of us and sending them to review as a complete mystery. I am a bit picky when it comes to my lingerie – there are some things I absolutely dislike so I was so anxious about getting something as a surprise. On the other hand, I do love surprises which made me very intrigued about the contents of my parcel. When it finally arrived in the post office and I ripped the packaging off I was so happy to be facing a set of sophisticated animal print in an unusual grey colour. Also the texture was lovely and unique – there were some bigger leopard spots at the top part of the cups which seem to raise ever-so-sligthly from the otherwise sleek fabric.

The construction of the bra is a very traditional plunge-balconette with a three-part cup and medium coverage. Féline gives me a decent amount of uplift and a very natural shape – this is a bra that I would recommend to anyone who wants something subtle under their clothes. It gives a rather rounded yet natural look and works well with most of my outfits.

DSC_0162 DSC_0172
The Fit: I asked for a size 32FF as this was the one that fitted me the best in another styles from Lejaby. However, as the parcel arrived I realized I had been sent a 32G instead of an FF so I was a bit nervous about the fit. These things happen sometimes when I get sent samples – someone accidentally sends me a wrong size and sometimes they fit, sometimes they don’t. In this case, the mistake was a blessing in disguise – the 32G fitted me super well! I do notice some slight gaping on my smaller boob but as we all know so well, the bra size should be opted by the size of one’s bigger boob. The unpadded style of the bra ensures though that the gaping in in no-way notable under shirts and dresses which makes it also a practical little number to wear for everyday. The 32G compares roughly to a regular, even large-ish British 32GG so this brand and particular bra run about a cup size or a cup size and a half bigger than usual!

As Maison Lejaby only makes 30-bands in a few styles, I was sent a bra with a 32 band instead. For a French brand, Maison Lejaby seems to be running very British when it comes to their bands – that is, very true-to-size. With my 30″ underbust measurement the band is in all honesty a bit loose but doesn’t ride up in the back even when worn in the loosest set of hooks. However, this may not be your sturdiest bras anyway – the materials are very stretchy meaning the whole ensemble is super comfy yet not the kind of to run a marathon with. In my opinion the band would be best for someone with a 32″ rib cage so on me, it is not the best size. However, I have worn this bra over the last couple of months each and every week so you can imagine how comfy it really is!

The underwires of Féline are a rather standard ones for a French brand – not as wide as with British bras but not as narrow as Polish. This works for me very well as my boobs are a very average width and don’t require super wide or narrow underwires.

DSC_0174DSC_0167DSC_0002
Comfort: As mentioned before, the Féline is VERY comfortable and a stretchy little sucker. The band, the cups, the wiring and the straps are all made with comfort in mind – this makes the bra to adjust to your body and feel comfy when moving around. Even though this takes a bit away from the sturdyness of the bra it does give you a sense of not wearing one in the first place – which is something I aim for when I am at home chilling and still want to feel supported.

When it comes to the underwires, the Féline does a great job by staying low under the armpits to avoid any unpleasant chafing against your arms or pinching in the flesh under them. The wires are also just flexible enough to keep you comfy even riding a motorcycle, which some of you know to be my ultimate test for my bras (by the way, thank heavens for the mc season starting just now, I missed you Honda-babe <3). The straps can be quite stretchy as well but nothing near eg the Comexim “Irish Coffee” (click for the review!) I own. The straps are also rather long so if you are even slightly more on the petite side, this could cause you some problems. I have adjusted mine to the tightest they can go and this is the right length of straps for me with Féline.

I was also sent the Brazilian brief in size 2 to match my Féline bra. My bf is probably the biggest fan of Brazilians so he was happy and to be honest, for a Brazilian this panty is a rather comfortable little number. The size 2 is a french size which translates roughly to a UK size 10-12 (not sure though, enlighten me if I got it wrong!). The back of the Brazilian leaves a seamless finish so if you are a great jeans-wearer, this could be just the knicker style for you.

When it comes to getting your hands on Maison Lejaby, I would say your local brick and mortar boutiques and department stores are the best to look into. I tried to look for Féline online and found this one place where you can get your hands on it for a reduced price even. The online store is a french one called Les Dessous Chics but it translates mostly to English as well and sells Féline bra for a rather great price of 53,83€. Even though Maison Lejaby is a bit more in the luxury category both for quality and price, the course of the pound is horrendous to anyone who doesn’t live in UK. This actually takes the Maison Lejaby pretty close to its British rivals when it comes to € price and sometimes even a more affordable choice compared to other full-bust mid-priced bras.

How do you feel about Maison Lejaby? Have you tried them and if so, how do you find the quality and fit? I would love to know a second opinion to mine so let me know in the comments! xx

Lingerie Review: Gossard “Super Smooth” in 30DD

23 Apr

I know my lasses, I have been gone for too long. But! I have been doing some good and productive stuff as I have have got myself trained as a bra fitter (!) so my last couple of weeks has been fitting people and learning about the brand I work for. This means I will be getting even more people into well-fitting bras in the future – how cool is that, right? 😉

However, today is not about my new job (maybe I’ll tell you more about it in the future!) but about someone we already know – a little lady called “Super Smooth”. Super Smooth* was formerly introduced on 2COP a few months ago when the first black version of it lauched on the Gossard online store and my lovely bff Jo modelled and reviewed it on the blog. Today, I am bringing this inseparable combo to you again, hence a better-fitting bra size of 30DD. Also, the Super Smooth has finally been introduced in some fab prints and today we are bringing you the cute and sassy leopard print. *Disclosure: This set was provided by Gossard for review purposes, all opinions are our own.

DSC_0170 DSC_0206
Design: When we talk about the very basic lingerie we have in our bradrobes, what would you consider a must? When I think about my very best bras and panties, it’s always about comfort, practicality and good looks combined into one perfect set. As a Finn, I know our lust for the boring beige and black underwear but what if, just for once, we tried to spice it up a bit? Even though the black Super Smooth was an instant hit with Jo and meshed well with her wardrobe, the sassy leopard print is a good option under your everyday clothes – and why not under a see-through top on a night out? The leopard print is done in a subtle way in a toned-down colour combo of beige, black and army green which might sound like an odd pairing to some but seems to work well in such a wild (see what I did there?) print.

Even with the wilder print, there is always the sleekness and practicality of the t-shirt bra finish – as the name promises, the bra and the panty give a seamless look with just a little more oomph with the push up padding in the cups. The cleavage is phenomenal as always and it’s achieved with a completely wireless structure of built-in “support panels”.

DSC_0190 DSC_0195
Fit: If you are interested in a our previous description of the fit, I suggest you look into our first post of this particular bra, HERE (click!). What has changed though is the bra size Jo is wearing this time – the black Super Smooth was in a size 32D whereas this one is worn in a size 30DD. Last time, Jo could easily close the bra in the tightest hooks with the 32 being obviously too big on her, but the 30 band seems to work well for her small underbust area. The materials are rather stretchy meaning she could probably go down to 28 if it existed but the bra fits well nevertheless.

The 30DD is a sister size to a 32D which means the cup volume is the same with both bras. As Jo’s cup size hasn’t changed much during the past few months, it seems the sister size is working well regarding the cup size as well. Jo usually wears a size 28F with most UK brands so I would suggest once again to go for your regular Gossard size; one cup down and a band size up from your regular UK size. Jo is wearing a size XS short with the bra and it fits her really well too without any bulging or gaping anywhere.

DSC_0211 DSC_0216
Comfort: When it comes to comfort, it would seem to be a key ingredient in making the perfect everyday set – especially when designing a wireless. Even though wireless bras usually tend to feel pretty flimsy on a fuller bust, Gossard has managed to make this bra feel sturdy and comfy on. The in-built support panels almost feel like underwires without the possible poking and make the bra approachable for us D+ ladies as well. Here’s hoping Gossard would upgrade the size range up to G!

Even though Gossard bras are usually very comfortable overall, there seems to be one thing that bothers me and Jo a bit – and that is the straps. Unfortunately, even with the bigger sizes, Gossard is using rather slim half-adjustable straps with most of their designs which leads up to a flimsy feeling and sometimes even to annoying slipping off the shoulders. For me, the length of the straps has never been a problem but to Jo, they were just way too long to feel sturdy and to support the 10% of the weight of her bust. This can be fixed easily with basic sewing skills but it could also be taken care of during the design process. So Gossard, here’s the thing – we LOVE you. Just improve the straps a bit, okay?

All in all the set is very comfy and great-looking in its new print for the spring season and we would both recommend this to any A-E gal out there who want the support without the wires. You can snatch up this bradrobe staple from the Gossard online store for a reduced price of £35 for the bra and £14 for the short. How do you like this set? Would you be willing to try the E+ sizes if Gossard made them in the future? I would love to know, so do leave me a comment! xx

Suomeksi: Heippa ihmiset! Tällä kertaa meillä on uudestaan arvosteltavana Gossardin “Super Smooth”, jota Jossu testailikin jo muutama kuukausi sitten debyyttivärissään, mustassa.

Mini Bra Review: Avocado “Mirabelle” in 70H

8 Mar

When it comes to Avocado, I actually rarely know what their team has in store for me. The first time I got a parcel from them, it was like a blind date: no idea who you are going to meet and if you are even going to like him. The surprise has always been a good one though and this time when Paulina sent me an email that a girl named Mirabelle was on her way to me, I was already at ease. How bad could it be? And it could not, I must tell you. I have already done a couple review’s on Avocado’s A-cut so this will be a mini review instead of a full one. Let’s see what post man Pat delivered me the other day…

DSC_0177 DSC_0218
The Design: The Avocado A-cut is what I call a plunge balconette – a style that dips in at the gore a bit but doesn’t go all the way down to be a true plunge. The cups are made of three parts which is a rather conventional bra cut and a favourite of many women with full-bust as it offers a decent shape (when done well) and good support. I have had the chance to try this style with Avocado’s Jewel and Caprice styles so click for the links if you want to learn more! The shape is overall a very good one for a three-piece cup construction as it is lifted and supported with the right proportions. The shape is quite natural so nothing too pointy nor super round!

The style of Mirabelle is absolutely adorable and sophisticated at the same time; I am completely in love with the Charcoal background and the hot pink accents (perfect to combine to my new Barry M lipstick!). Black and pink are a very traditional pairing but I loved that Avocado mixed it up a bit and went for charcoal instead – this gives the set a modern fresh touch to it. The cups are almost sheer with the exception of double lining at the bottom of the cup. The cups remain quite see-through even with the lining so be prepared for that! The overall aesthetics of the bra is very young and speaking to the “middle-market” woman who is tired of too cutesy prints but still wants something pretty in her bradrobe.

DSC_0184 DSC_0220
Fit & Comfort: I have noticed that the Avocado A-cut isn’t probably my best match from the brand’s selection of cuts – the K-shape is still my absolute favourite and I am actually waiting to get a chance to try their H-cut which is a more true balconette and might fit my boobs a bit better than this plunge balconette hybrid. Plunge shapes, even subtle ones, tend to cut into my upper fullness which is not obvious from the pictures but can occur during a day of wear. The cut is very flattering through clothes though and it minimizes the bust nicely (a feature I need now and then to get my clothes fit a bit better!). I am also contemplating on choosing a bigger size with the A-cut next time, to see if it’s just the shape that’s not the best for me or if the fit has something to do with too-small cups. We’ll see!

As usual, the A-cut is a sturdy little number and I love how comfortable it is after a little bit of breaking in. The 70 band feels snug as ever and the three hooks and eyes keep me supported for a long time and multiple wears. The wires are spot-on as well – great length and width for me to feel comfy all day long.

If you would fancy getting yourself the Mirabelle, do check out the Avocado online store. The bra retails for 72,52€ but if you are a returning Avocado customer, you get automatically 10% off. The shipping rates are pretty good to US as well – only 12€! What do you think? Would you have room for Mirabelle in your bradrobe? Let me know in the comments! xx

Suomeksi: Sain pari viikkoa sitten Avocadolta sähköpostin, jossa ilmoitettiin uuden paketin olevan jo matkalla minulle. Usein pääsen valitsemaan itse haluamani setin tehdessäni yhteistyötä brändien kanssa mutta Avocadon linja on aina ollut lähettää bloggaajille yllätyksiä – sinänsä hauskaa vaihtelua! Ikinä en kuitenkaan ole joutunut paketin sisältöön pettymään, päin vastoin. Brändi tarjoaakin ihania malleja moneen makuun – on pitsiä, perus nude-värisiä liivejä, kirjailuja ja upeita väriyhdistelmiä.

Tällä kertaa sain testiin Avocadon Mirabelle-liivin, minulle jo tutussa A-mallissa.

Lingerie Review: Comexim “Irish Coffee” in 70J

24 Feb

As you all may know by now, I have been very keen on Polish bras lately; they have certain European appeal to them and even though the sizing can be confusing, when you get the fit right it usually is spot-on. One Polish brand I was yet try was Comexim which I had heard so many great reviews on. This is why I was so happy when the owner of Zathiya lingerie online boutique contacted me and asked if I wanted to try out something from their collection. Zathiya is still a very new company but is already dedicated to serving their customers in a best possible way to find the best possible fit with their bras. It is an American company, so you US girls will be happy to know that there will now more Polish lingerie available to you! Today I will reviewing the lovely Irish Coffee from Comexim in 70J.

DSC_0017 DSC_0051
The Design: Irish Coffee is a regular Comexim padded plunge-balconette style bra with three-part cup construction. The style is very fresh in the full-bust lingerie scene – I have literally never seen any other brand doing dark brown. To be quite honest I am probably the biggest hater of brown in general but this colour combo is so sweet I absolutely fell in love with it. The name says it all – this truly is a creamy Irish Coffee blend with a little coral sweetness to it, in a from of cute bow adorning the centre core. The hues are very chocolate-y and creamy, just the way I like them.

The shape of the cup is super rounded and uplifted and creates a very in-your-face type of cleavage. As a fan of epic cleavage, I really love this feature of the bra. When wearing Irish Coffee I actually feel like my boobs are defying gravity – almost like floating on my chest. The bra features a lovely thin lace overlay which can show through the thinnest of clothes but is pretty invisible under eg. thicker cotton blends.

DSC_0039DSC_0024
The Fit: When I first took the bra out of its parcel, I was very hesitant it would fit me – it looked so tiny compared to my other bra in similar sizes. However, I soon noticed that this was due the bra construction; the cups were so deep and narrow it made the bra look smaller than it actually is. When putting it on I found out the size was absolutely spot-on and cup depth was like heaven; rarely have I seen such deep cups that would not crease at the bottom for the lack of depth.

I went for the size 70J as I had went through some social media discussions and determined that I should go by the Comexim size chart but then sister size down in the band. The Comexim size chart puts me at 75HH which is a sister size to 70J. As I am more of a 70 with Polish brands usually, I decided to go for my usual band size and a cup up. As you can see from the size chart below, Comexim does include the HH-cup though they don’t do any other double letters and they drop the “I” altogether. This means the sizing is AGAIN very unique and I suggest you do some research to determine your own size. A good place to start would be the “Clothes for boobs” group at Facebook or other lingerie blogs that have covered the sizing.

Size Table

The band of Irish Coffee felt really good so I would say, you should definitely go for your regular Polish band size. For reference, I wear 70 with Ewa Michalak and Avocado as well, but would need a 65 with Kris Line and Samanta nowadays (it depends totally on your preferences as well, you might prefer your brands either looser or tighter). The wires seemed very narrow at first but there is something about them that really makes them comfy even though I don’t cope with very narrow wires in general. Maybe it’s the flexibility of the wire material; some wires can be more rigid than other and the Comexim wires were a great length and flexible enough for me.

DSC_0042 DSC_0059DSC_0004
Comfort: When I first got the Irish Coffee set on, I literally thought I was in lingerie heaven. As the fit was spot-on, the comfort kind of followed the same pattern and felt divine as well. The band was just stretchy enough to feel comfy and the straps were super flexible and full-adjustable to add another great feature to the bra. As I mentioned in the fit part, the wires felt very comfy too and I can easily wear the bra for several hours without any discomfort.

Even though I did love the stretchy bra straps at first there is a small downside to them: as they are super flexible, they also tend to fall off my shoulders quite a bit, especially combined to other slippery materials. Overall the bra is so comfy though the strap thing is only a minor thing I would change about it and the bra still gets a lot of wear on a regular basis.

I opted for the matching panties in a size Medium which seems to be my most accurate size with Polish brands at the moment. With the bottoms I would also suggest going by the size chart as it worked well when I gave it a try. The panties feature a soft mesh back and a lacy front and also tiny cute suspender-like thingys at the front. I would describe them as low-to-medium rise so very flattering on yours truly! I’d reckon these bottoms are one of my favourites for everyday wear as fit well and feel so comfy on at all times.

If you would like to get your hands on your very own Irish Coffee set, you can head over to Zathiya and snatch one up for $50 for the bra $18 for the panties. Definitely not a bad price for such a lovely well-fitting set of lingerie! In addition, you will get a 10% discount off your order with code 2cakes10 😉 Sizes go up to a Comexim L-cup which translates roughly to a UK HH. So, what do you think of Comexim and Irish Coffee in general? Have you tried any of their lingerie yet? Let me know in the comments!

Suomeksi: Kuten blogistani on voinut jo tovin huomata, on blogissani vilahdellut aika monta puolalaista alusvaatemerkkiä viime vuoden aikana.

Comeximin mitoitus on taas jälleen kerran ihan omaa luokkaansa, aivan niinkuin muillakin puolalaisilla merkeillä. Comexim sisällyttää taulukkoonsa HH-kupin mutta jättää I:n kokonaan välistä.

Redhead in Pale Pink – Review of Freya “Ooh La La” in 30GG

28 Dec

Hi world, I haven’t forgotten you! I just had a fantastic Christmas holiday with my family so I put aside my blog and the lingerie world for a moment, though I did receive five (!) new bras before the holidays. Today I will be introducing a set by a brand I have not bought or reviewed in a while, that is the mighty Freya. I was approached by the wonderful online boutique Clara Olivia and asked if I wanted to review something courtesy of them. I was so delighted of the chance and opted for something I had not tried in a while. The set reviewed today is the lovely “Ooh La La” which is one of the best sets Freya has released in a while. I have not worn unpadded Freya bras since my beloved 28FF Arabella so I figured it was time to give them another try…

DSC_0028 DSC_0032

The Design: As I opted for the Ooh La La I knew there would be something I did not like and it’s the way Freya double-lines the bottom half of their GG+ unpadded cups. I would prefer the bra to be completely see-through for a better look but obviously there is a reason why the double lining has been seen a necessity: Freya bras are designed with bottom-heavy breasts in mind, meaning they aim to support the lower part of breasts and give you superb uplift from the very root of the breast. As I am more top-heavy when it comes to my boobs, I don’t really need this but do understand the logic behind it.

The construction is pretty much the same as with the B-G sizes even though I do feel there’s a bit more coverage and the shape is more balconette as opposed to plunge. The idea behind revising the shape for the bigger sizes seems to be the extra support as well. The cups are constructed of three parts with one vertical and one horizontal seam. This can lead to a sad “upside-down seven” shape but luckily Freya is the master of ultimate uplift. The vertical seam goes high enough to create a curved, almost a pointy shape which actually goes great under most vintage reproduction clothing I own. The colour and looks are also pretty sweet and cutesy but also go great under light-coloured clothing. The geometrical embroidery is very Freya but not too kitchy to be a turn-off for me.

DSC_0049DSC_0033
The Fit: I was a bit hesitant to order this style in 30GG as I am more of a solid 30H now with most brands. However, I had been fitted into Freya bras at Bravissimo a few months ago so I was aware that the unpadded plunge balconettes would run a bit larger than their padded balconettes. I also still wear a 30GG with my regular Deco bra and it fits well so I was pretty sure I would be fine with a GG. Luckily, I was right! The cups fit me really well though they are better for someone with a little less upper fullness, as the cups are rather closed at top.

The cups are quite deep for a British brand so if Polish bras are out of the question for you and you need deep cups/narrow wires, this is a brand for you. The shape is extremely projected and the uplift is heavenly, although I do prefer a little more subtle look under some clothing. The band features a three hooks and eyes and is one of the most comfortable 30 bands I own, meaning it’s nice and snug but has enough stretch to accommodate fair amount of movement.

DSC_0037DSC_0060
Comfort: I am very well aware of how comfy Freya sets can be so my expectations were quite high. The underwires were definitely a bit on the stiffer side and I couldn’t wear the bra for multiple hours first but the wires loosened up a bit after a few wears and now they feel fine. The band and the straps are sturdy so they give me a good amount of support. The material is sturdy mesh that supports the breasts well and it’s not itchy either so I do feel the bra suits my sensitive skin. The straps are full-convertible which is always a plus for you petite and tall girls!

I opted for the panties in a size Small as my butt has grown a bit since last time I bought Freya knickers and it was a great choice size-wise. Freya bottoms usually run a bit large so as I am now between Small and Medium when it comes to panties, the Small fits me spot-on. The back part of the panties is made to prevent any VPL which is great for such a basic but pretty set as this.

All in all I really love my Freyas even though they are rarer goodies in my lingerie wardrobe. I am also ever so grateful for Clara Olivia for sending this set to be, it’s a good staple in my spring wardrobe. The bra costs an affordable £33 and the brief £16,50. The line also includes a thong, a short and a lovely suspender belt. The size range of the bra is incredible and suits both smaller and larger breasts with sizes 28-38 B-J! If you are as pale as me (see, I almost blend into the white wall!) this would be a great “nude” bra to go under those light-coloured spring clothes 🙂

What do you think of the set? Also, if you are GG+ would you like your mesh bras single or double-lined? Let me know in the comments!

Suomeksi: Moikka! Miten teidän joululoma on mennyt?

Postikulut Suomeen kustantavat reilun kympin, niinkuin suurimmassa osassa muissakin brittiläisissä nettikaupoissa. 🙂

Florals for Christmas – Review of Bravissimo “Satine In Bloom” in 30H

4 Dec

I have always been a huge Bravissimo fan – even before I actually popped into their store in Liverpool I knew they were famous for their fitting service and a lovely selection of the best brands for a fuller bust. When I finally fulfilled my lifelong dream of living in UK, I knew I had to make a visit to my nearest store in Bold Street (the absolute best street in Liverpool btw!). The ladies at the store were very helpful and also gave me and my American fellow Leah a bra fitting that took my dear friend from being a 34C to her “real” size of 30F. Leah ended up walking out of the store with a classic Bravissimo in-house style “Satine” which looked so lovely on her.

Fast-forward to today, I finally got my chance to try this classic style myself when Bravissimo contacted me and asked if I wanted to try Satine for myself. Seeing it on Leah I knew it would be a great sexy addition to my lingerie collection, so of course I said yes! Here’s how I liked the new Satine In Bloom by Bravissimo’s house brand.

DSC_0048DSC_0045
Excuse me for the headlessness, my straightener just resigned itself and I was wearing toilet paper rolls on my head 😀

Design: Satine is usually a quite simple yet sexy style – it always comes in a shiny satin-y material and a plunge shape – but this time I was thrilled to see it in such a pretty floral print. The print looks a bit Asian-inspired which made it feel a lot more unique and the colouring was just lovely – different tones of China red and pink splashed on the granite grey background. I was so pleased to see the vibrant shades come alive when I saw the bra in flesh; the pics on Bravissimo website or even mine don’t do the colours true justice.

The shape of the bra is a true plunge; the cups are made of three parts with one vertical and one horizontal seam. The look of the bra is very uplifted and also quite natural on me. The cups look a tad pointier than some of my other plunge bras but work well with most of my dresses. This is the exact kind of style that I am always looking for: something very low-cut that doesn’t show under plunging necklines. The cleavage is not super prominent so I see Satine as a great option for everyday wear as well.

DSC_0053 DSC_0057
Fit: As the Bravissimo team told me they would like me to try the Satine I was a bit hesitant at first. Not that I don’t love the style – it’s just that extreme plunge shapes like this tend to cut into my upper fullness. However the result was clearly not that bad when I tried the bra on – it was a little tight on my bigger breast but definitely not so much to doom it as a bad fit. I still think the bra would suit best someone with a little less upper fullness so you full-on-bottom ladies, do try the Satine! The cups were deep enough for me though and I really like how projected my boobs look in them. The cup on my bigger boob folds a tiny bit at the bottom which tells me it’s not quite deep enough there but that is very common with my other padded bras as well and doesn’t bother me at all.

The band of the bra is super comfortable and supportive! I have been having some issues with brands making their bands too narrow for my 30GG/H bust to feel supported and I am so happy Bravissimo makes their GG+ bras with three hooks and eyes. The band felt very snug at first but loosened up a bit as I wore it a few times.

When it comes to sizing, Bravissimo house-brand seems to running on the smaller side. I am still very solidly between GG and H and I decided to go for 30H based on the feedback I saw online. Many of my busty sisters have tried the Satine and reported its cups to run small-ish which is why I went for my bigger size. I am so glad I did as the bra fits me quite well even though the shape is rather closed on top! The band however seems to run true-to-size so a lovely snug 30 fits me really perfectly.

DSC_0063 DSC_0066
Comfort: From all aspects of the Satine set, the comfort takes the trophy home. I actually was stupid enough to do some intense dancing around our apartment yesterday without a sports bra on but I actually did quite well with Satine as it’s a sturdy little number with a comfy band and wide-enough straps. Even though I was shaking it to the Anaconda, like hardcore, my boobs didn’t fall out of the bra and or punch me in the face while jumping. Also the straps haven’t fallen off my shoulders a single time so that’s definitely a plus!

What I was very thrilled about this bra set was the thoughtfully picked out materials – the cups are lined with cotton (always a plus for me!) and the satin feels amazing to touch. I also adore the panties; they cover my butt really well and still manage to look sexy with the back being completely made out of mesh. The rise is perfect and my usual size UK 10 fitted me spot-on.

All in all, I am pretty impressed with the Bravissimo house brand and Satine in Bloom! From now on I won’t be hesitant to try other styles as well. If you are on a lookout for something cute and sexy for Christmas, do give Satine a chance; it comes in sizes 28-38 DD-J so the size range is amazing too. The bra retails for affordable £32 and the brief for £16.

Has anyone of you tried Satine and how did you like it? What about other Bravissimo styles? Let me know in the comments! xx

Suomeksi:

Review of By Caprice “Love Blossom” in 32G

12 Oct

I very often bump into brands that are just so cute, sexy and so “me” and when I look for my size, it shines with its non-existence. Well, I first saw By Caprice lingerie on a random website and this is exactly what happened – ouch, up to G and I was a double! However, some of the designs really caught my eye and I was left wondering if I could sistersize down to a 32G. When Sophie from By Caprice contacted me asking if I wanted something to review on my blog, I jumped at the chance and decided to try my luck. I was sent the “Love Blossom” set in sizes 32G and Small and here’s how I liked it…

DSC_0022 DSC_0054
Design: I went for the Love Blossom as it instantly caught my eye – the colour and the lace embroidery looked amazing! I was a bit worried about the extra padding inside the cups but I am so looks-orientated that this set definitely won me over. The whole look is quite over-the-top, in a good way of course, as the plunge shape creates a massive cleavage and the shiny pink satin is quite eye-catching. The lace is quite thick so be sure to match this bra with something not-so-clingy! I wore this bra with my new Lindy Bop “Ophelia” dress and it created a nice look under the ruched neckline.

Love Blossom is a moulded-cup padded bra featuring some extra push-up padding in the bottom part of the cups. For me the push-up padding is a bit too much as I probably could have achieved the cleavage without any extra help but for some the padding can be a bonus. The bra gives me a very uplifted lovely shape and looks great with very open necklines as it doesn’t cover much of your chest.

DSC_0046 DSC_0051
Fit: As you can see, the fit is unfortunately not the best for me. This is not the bras fault though – my boobs are just about a cup size too big for it. I think my best fit with By Caprice would probably be a 32GG so I am looking forward to their potential size expansion that will take place sometime in the future. The band feels firm for 32 but I would say it’s just on a smaller side of 32 so not super snug on me but still doesn’t ride up. There is some spillage mostly on my left boob as it is bigger than my right one so if I had the chance I would size up to a GG. However, the quadboob on my left side is not that notable under clothing so I have actually been wearing this bra quite a lot lately as it looks great under most of my dresses.

The wiring and depth of the bra are quite the average so a very good fit for me. I find the cups to be rather deep at the bottom too (compared to eg. Curvy Kate bras) so there’s not a bunch folding going on at the bottom. I usually have some wrinkles at the bottom of the padded cups I wear so to me, the overall fit of Love Blossom looks pretty good to me, if it only was the perfect size. Also I do think that my shape is not the best for this bra and it could have fitted better if I had less fullness on the top part of my breasts. So if you have more bottom-heavy breasts – this is probably your best choice for a push-up bra!

DSC_0043 DSC_0056
Comfort: I have been wearing this set quite a bit as it is very comfortable doesn’t peek under my low-cut open necklines. The materials feel nice to touch and the lace is not scratchy at all – quite the contrary! The wires feel very reasonably placed so they don’t poke me in my armpits or feel too narrow or wide. The band features three hooks and eyes which I’m really grateful for.

The panties looked very skimpy at first and I wondered if they would look flattering or feel good. I was also hesitant about my size as the size range goes from S to XL and I am probably not even close to By Caprice’s smallest customer. The size was spot-on though and the side strings of the brief give a lot of room for size fluctuation. I would say the panties run true-to-size just like the bra did. This is definitely always a good quality of a new brand you try, as it is more likely to get the right size with a little less hit-and-miss.

I hope you liked my review and will be looking into By Caprice too – they are a great option if you fall into their size range and are looking for a good push-up bra with a lovely fit. If you fancy yourself a very own set from By Caprice, I would suggest you look into Littlewoods and Very! They have a nice selection of By Caprice for great prices. By Caprice also produces smaller sizes so if you are not D+, you still have a good shot at fitting into their brand.

How do you like By Caprice and the Love Blossom set? If you have any questions or comments leave them for me in the comment box! Have a great Sunday, loves xx
