My full-bust lingerie picks for Valentine’s Day!

26 Jan

I love Valentine’s Day; I’m a sucker for all things pink, red and romantic. I remember I always used to dream about the perfect Valentine’s Day when I could be whisked off to wonderful romantic date by Prince Charming and then we’d live happily ever after. Unfortunately my childhood dreams were crushed by the fact that that day never came, not in 21 years. Funny enough, today when I have finally found my Prince Charming I don’t feel upset when I can’t spend Valentine’s Day with him on that exact day. Why, you ask. The answer is simple and pretty cheesy; I don’t need February 14th to show someone how much I love him. He knows it already, which is why we can happily go out a few days before and have our own private Valentine’s Day.

But let’s leave my personal love life goo out of this for a second and focus on the one important thing that always makes me flutter whether it’s Valentine’s Day or not – lingerie. V-day is an excellent excuse to treat yourself as well and show some self-love; buy yourself something you feel sexy/ comfortable in and it will make your day with or without a special someone. Here are some picks to make you feel and look fantastic!

Image

Curvy Kate “Carmen”

Of course I needed to include it. After all it’s the one set I’ve been drooling over since the pics were released. And guess what? This is my personal pick for the V-day adventures since I ALREADY HAVE IT WITH ME. Yes, I bought it, it arrived today and turned out to be perfect. Boyfriend is diggin the set too so it’s a win-win situation. (Review coming next week!) You can buy yours at Brastop or Figleaves for £35 for the bra, £15 for the thong and £18 for the suspender belt. Size range 28D-38J.

SugarShape “Marilyn”

I usually don’t go for the white options but this set is just so gorgeous it has to be mentioned. I also love how it’s photographed and shown on different body types which makes this brand and the product even more attractive to consumers. If you want to find out more about SugarShape check out my post on them here. You can find Marilyn in their e-commerce store.

Mimi Holliday “Raspberry Ripple”

Loving the new Mimi styles! Raspberry Ripple is a perfect V-day choice for someone who appreciates a bit of luxe but still quite clean looks. This set is not overly frilly or complicated but it makes a statement with it’s amazing colour and shiny materials. This style also includes a Maxi bra which is designed for sizes 28-40 D-GG. Image

Playful Promises “Ruby”

This one I picked for a bit of fun – it’s not very practical nor supportive but makes hell of an impact when worn with a right attitude and whole lotta confidence. I would personally love to see how this kinda thing works for my 30GG bust and would definitely be up for trying it for the heck of it. Also the girdle is amazing and could easily be combined with a full-bust bra if needed. Both of these are sold at Hepburn & Leigh in sizes XS-XL.

Avocado “Nina”

Avocado is aesthetically one of my favourite Polish brands; it offers both very romantic detailed designs but also sleek and sophisticated ones, just like Nina. I love the bold red colour here, it’s perfect for the set’s simplicity and would work fantastically for V-day celebrations. You can find Nina on Avocado’s online shop in sizes 60-95 E-K (EU sizing).

Here are my picks for Valentine’s but if anyone of you have other faves or styles appropriate for the most romantic day of the year, let me know in the comments! I would also love to know what your plans are for V-day if you dare to share 😉

Lingerie wishlist for AW13

22 Sep

Okay, so it’s starting to feel a lot like autumn here in Finland, with the rain and all, but I haven’t really talked to you guys about this season’s styles and trends yet, not to mentions my picks of the lot. There is actually a reason for this; as you may have read my post on the “sexiness” matter some of you might have guess that there is not much for me in the market at the moment. I still have drooled over a few items, so here is my AW wishlist (luckily my birthday and Christmas are still ahead of me!).

Image

All Undone – The Mai

Amazing set with a totally unique design and aesthetics. There is only thing that’ll stop me from snatching this set up when it’s released – the price. It’s not that it’s not worth it, it totally is, but I’m still a student and it seems like my financial situation is getting month by month even more depressing. So I hope it’s not gonna be a totally miserable season for reviews.. Well, anyways, if I happen to win a lottery or something this will be on the top of my shopping list!

Image

Gossard – Edina Body

Completely amazing, very quirky yet sexy. I absolutely adored this body from the moment I saw it and my desire for it grows each time I see pictures of it! This one is also a bit too pricey for me with its 69$ price tag but you never know, I just might get myself a sugar daddy 😀 Just kidding…

Love Claudette – Ouvert

Fantastic pattern with a naughty twist – cups that open at the front! I’m so glad that this set is also available to full-bust customers since the fun and the sexiness is definitely needed.

…Aaand then everything from the new Tutti Rouge collection. Well, not EVERYTHING but like most of them. At least I need to buy a new Betty in red to save my old one from dying (its elastic has already started to suffer after some hardcore wearing).

I was a bit disappointed in this season styles from the Eveden Group and Panache. Especially Cleo by Panache has always been my precious one and this time it feels like it’s cheating on me by being.. Well, a bit boring. I love how Cleo has been offering a lot of colourful quirky styles but this season all the colour combos and prints felt a bit outdated, too weird or smudgy (can I even use that word?). So, onto the next season Cleo and we’ll see you again.

Also my past favourite Curvy Kate let me down this autumn. I saw both their AW13 and SS14 collections and felt immediately like wanting to skip the winter (which I’m btw gonna do by leaving Finland for three months). Their SS14 collection was super-colourful with amazing prints etc so I’m kinda sat to skip their AW13 collection all together… I would definitely consider trying on eg the new Starlet but that is about it. Sorry CK, I’m gonna take a break from our love affair for a while.

What I will try out this season instead are some new-to-me brands, mostly Polish ones. I definitely want to see what the fuzz is all about and expand my knowledge to other than British brands. I love how Miss Underpinnings has presented a lot of Polish brands after her trip to full-bust promised land and can’t wait to try some of those gorgeous pieces on. Image

I’m really tempted to try on some Ewa Michalak stuff after her recent FB releases. I mean, that shit’s brilliant. Pure gems after gems, I’ll probably end up wanting them all even though I swore on my mother’s life I’ll never buy anything from her. Damn you, EM.

Image

Also another Polish designer on my get-to-know list; Ewa Bien. Love their autumn collection!

Sooo, that was about it for today and I’ll see you next week! What would you like to try out this season? Any new brands, colours, styles? Let me know in the comments!

Full bust lingerie needs some Lady GaGa

7 Sep

When I started to follow lingerie blogs one of the first ones I found was The LIngerie Lesbian who taught me a thing or two about how inspiring, quirky and/or inventive lingerie could be. I was smitten to see some pretty hot designs that weren’t necessarily made out of lace, even though I was a girly girl and would have never said no to a pink or a red bra. There are some awesome indie designers in the luxury category but here comes the twist; they all pretty much make their lingerie in so called straight sizes which means 32-38 A-D. Something I’ll never fit into and IT BUGS ME.

ImageImage

I recently saw Lady GaGa’s Applause music video and my lust for almost androgyneous lingerie choices grew into a massive desire. Seriously, I’d make myself a leather-glove bra if I could but my sewing skills are less than highly developed. But yeah, instead of starting my own leather-lingerie business I would kindly ask all the lingerie designers out there to make something like this for full busts as well. I know a lot of brands doing the fun-and-girly theme (which is perfectly fine and I love it) but there is so much room and demand for these kind of pieces. Even though they might not be the most practical under clothing, I would love something this daring to wear around house of even at a night out as outer wear (a longline bra with leather glove pattern + a high-waisted pants = awesomeness!).

ImageImage

What I’d also like to see is some edgy embellishments like studs and chains. I have already seen some on high street fashion stores but as you may have already guessed they don’t play well with bigger than average boobies. I myself am a big lover of 3D patterns and anything that literally pops out and would die to wear something with a little more showy, eg. a bra with 3D roses.

Image

At the moment I feel like there’s only a couple of brands that offer more androgynous lingerie for fuller busts; Claudette and All Undone Lingerie. They are certainly doing something that’s been missing from the industry forever but I’d still like to see even more daring styles along with the bold colours. I know, it’s a risky move for any company to make something that’s probably gonna have a niche customer base BUT PRETTY PLEASE. It’s probably not the “thing” of Freya, CK, TR or any big full bust company at the moment but I’d love to see someone to take the first step. We have seen this trend conquering the fashion world so I’d suggest lingerie jumps in before the train leaves the station.

Five brands I lust for

11 Jul

As I entered the world of lingerie I found out about brands that I had never even heard of. I completely adore it when lingerie designers do something completely unique and make a girl feel like a princess. Here are some vintage-inspired brands I’d die to wear someday, even if some of them don’t make my size yet.

1. What Katie DidImage

I love love love this Marlene set besides the fact that I’m not a fan of bullet bras and the bra does not come in my size. Anyways, what I could try is the gorgeous girdle (64€) that could go fantastically with my Cleo Marcie in red. I’ve always loved red in lingerie so I would probably go for the seamed stockings as well.

2. Kiss Me DeadlyImage

Another brand that don’t make my bra size BUT look at that Amelie suspender belt (£36)! Kiss Me Deadly makes amazing vintage-inspired lingerie that makes my stomach turn around for excitement. What I especially love about this brand is how some of their online store pics are created to imitate well-known children stories in a dangerous twisted way.

3. Playful PromisesImage

Why, OH WHY, some brands only go up to DD? That bra is design-wise a gem but again that Paradise garter skirt is the one I would personally go for. I’d probably wear it with my CK Elegance or Smoothie since it’s such an easy to piece to match with any other black lingerie. This beauty is for 25 quids so for independent lingerie design piece it’s a real bargain.

4. Fräulein AnnieImage

Fräulein Annie is relatively new brand offering amazing luxurious lingerie with a pretty good size range (UK 30-36 A-G). That means I won’t fall out of their size range for once, yey! However, with a little use of Google I couldn’t find that many online stores carrying the brand, so feel free to inform me if you know where to get your mittens on these lovely underkrackers. The picture above is featuring their wonderful Falling In Love set in Pearl which is available in a cinnamon-almond colourway at LargeCupLingerie.

5. Parfait AffinitasImage

I found about this particular set at another curvy girl blog Warning – Curves Ahead which reviewed this lovely set by Parfait. I absolutely love the fact that this one comes in my size and boy, those high-waisted briefs are to-die-for! I have not tried Parfait yet but it’s definitely on my to-do-list when my financial situation gets better (if it gets better, sigh..).

Have a happy Thursday, lovely readers! I’m gonna bake some brownies today and probably watch movies since it’s a lazy day ahead of me today. Enjoy yours, xx
